Yeah the factory air guide is out...im going to have to do something custom for the under tray. My car didn't have one when I bought it.
Did a few things today. Does my turbo make my filter look fat? https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...0d6b9ff20b.jpg Trying to get the intercooler piping all finished...the damn idle control tube is proving to be annoying but Ill get something figured out. I had a bung welded in to put a hose barb in the intercooler pipe and Ill make a silicone tube work. https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...c962417742.jpg And due to popular demand I went ahead and had this done. Why ask questions if you aren't going to listen to the answers? So I listened. https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...eec8a8eda0.jpg |
You listen, and you do things right the 1st time, because your'e smart :)
Also that filter will eventually melt and fall off. btdt |
If you don’t want to mess with the IAC tube, switch to an NB IACV, which uses internal passages in the TB. It’s possible to do this on the S2 throttle body by getting the NB removable flange.

I'm not sure if there's a better filter. That part of the bay gets really hot and vibrate-ey, and the weight of the filter is basically fighting the coupler it's glued to. Mine melted after a couple months. Gordon's melted after a couple months. K&N's too, not some cheap junk

Get over it, a Miata on steroids is not limp dick syndrome. I have melted K&N's too and now evidence that they allow more silicone than average in has been presented.

Yep, your miata will be hated and envied as well as loved. Far from limp dick syndrome.
Yep, K&N's suck at filtering too, perhaps I didn't get silicon right. They good at melty though. :dunno: |
Just be glad you didn't get one of the chrome top ones. When mine melted, the chrome top fell off and there was a giant gaping orifice, I might as well have been running no filter at all.

You okay Sonofthehill? He was clearly just joking. Buddies at the strip busting your balls a little too hard?
|
What would prevent the melting? aluminum neck to get it further from the compressor?
|
Sorry Tony, I just get bent like my rod when I remember that damn melted filter. Doesn't help when I have had a few beers and they cancel the last race of the year. Not to mention my freakin' POS leaky BOV. Don't mind me, carry on with your awesome build.

The answer is a big nasty anodized-some-cool-color velocity stack with some panty hose clamped over it.
|

Im interested in this...does it plug right in to an NA?
Here's the connector kit from Corsa Technic for $2.44 Mechanically, though, the S2 throttle bodies are identical for NA and NB applications. They use a different little adapter plate for the different valves. |
You would need this guy from S2. Hopefully they sell it as a service part.

I can confirm the S2 will sell just the lower section if you call them. It's like $40.
