32 is a confirmed sync loss due to improper crank/cam timing.

Does it occur often enough to catch it with a composite log?

I'll get it. There are 44 sync losses in that log which is 28-minutes long. What does sync-loss look like on the composite logger? I downloaded this from a Supra with sync loss, but I don't really know what I'm looking at.

Is this something I can fix or am I screwed? This kind of sucks because my track car is kind of screwed-up right now and I can't really drive it.

Graeme sent me this pic of the mod he had to do:

I'm watching google vids on soldering circuit boards, kind of a shitty way to start out learning how to mod this stuff.

I should have just bought that Bugatti instead.

Braineack 10-12-2012 10:01 AM

get some vodka and burn it.

hustler 10-12-2012 10:51 AM

Can someone please help me and and shoe me what a composite-logger sync 32 error looks like so I know when I have what I need to proceed? I made a few logs this morning and can't tell if it's happening or not.

Hold on, let me mouth some dudes first.

I have a spare vvt valve cover if you need it. Fatkao might have a spare head off his first vvt motor, try pming him if not let me know and I will call him.

Here are a few logs that all have sync loss and I can't tell where which I found on the interweb from various cars:

Just about every one of those shows no break in the CKP/CMP patters. Damn, I'm dumb.

I feel like they should all look like this if a 36-1 and a single cas tooth. some you've posted look like a 4-2

That's because I can't find a composite logger with sync loss. Any thoughts on going with a tighter tolerance on the CKP sensor?

What is your tolerance at now? What happens if you unplug the VVT Tuner and drive around? Do you still get sync losses?

Reverant 10-12-2012 11:28 AM

Have you changed the ignition mode to Miata 99-00 in the MS?

The thickness of two hotel key-cards, I don't have feelers that large.

I'll check in a little bit.

vehicular 10-12-2012 11:44 AM

Stack feelers, then add their thicknesses.

Either way, you should be able to tighten that to ~.030 without any adverse effects. Make sure the concentricity between the crank and trigger wheel is good, though.

hustler 10-12-2012 11:45 AM

Oh man, stacking feelers...this is embarrassing. I'll get out in a little bit and try this.

Bryce 10-12-2012 11:52 AM

Screw that. Credit card thickness. If you can pull a credit card through the gap with a slight drag it should be good.

Two hotel cards is too big a gap. I was having problems till I closed the gap to 1.

Troll post?

Maybe. I just realized youre running a different trigger wheel than I, right?

I just looked back at my thread. I was getting error 32. My ckp gap was 1/4". Closed the gap to single credit card thickness (gap from tooth to sensor), and the error became less frequent. But what really fixed my problem was going from rising edge trigger to falling edge. Your input circuit setup is possibly very different from mine though. I'm running Frank's implementation of the NB input circuit.

hustler 10-12-2012 01:18 PM

I tightened up the tolerance on the CKP sensor and I have about 45-minutes of logs with 1 sync loss event, #31. I am set-up on leading edge. Should I be concerned or switch to falling edge?
