Sent Rev a PM, I really hope to finish tuning this car, it's done aside from the EBC fiasco.

Yeah, I think you're down to opening up the case and probing the signal traces to see where it's getting grounded. My first guess would be that there's a solder glob on the connector that's jumping pin 20 to 21 (21 is ground).

Pulled the unit, checked the db37 again, everything looks good, nothing touching.
At that point I just gave up on pin 20. Wasted too much time with pin 20.

.........wired up the EBC to Pin 19, Nitrous2.

.....SUCCESS!!

So there must be something shorted inside the MS for pin 20, but at least now we have a functioning EBC.

We're gonna shoot for a wastegate "track" setting, 15psi "street" setting, and 20psi "kill mode" setting.

And maybe later if G wants to dump corn into it, a e85 "ALLOFIT" setting? hehe
It would make absolutely stupid power on e85. Simply stupid.

EO2K 09-22-2015 11:51 PM

I'm trapped out here in the desert with limited connectivity and LOVING the updates.

Part of me is glad it wasn't my fault :giggle: but now sad to know i have a dead output on my MS. Does that mean the Borg EBC might actually be working? Maybe i can toss it in the toolbox as a spare or something.

FrankB 09-22-2015 11:57 PM

Glad you were able to get it figured out! in4ALLOFIT dyno results..

Need 3.5bar MAP sensor, clutch and DW300 for E85.

I'm still having a hard time wrapping my brains around the fact that this is "only" a 6258.

18psi 09-23-2015 12:42 AM

Nope, the Borg solenoid is dead as hustlers e-thugging career.
It does not work. Period.

Is the thing still in warranty?

EO2K 09-23-2015 12:57 AM

Lord only knows. That's actually the replacement that Fab sent me because the original had one of the nipples broken off as delivered. I can certainly ask, though I'd almost rather pick up another MAC so I won't have to fiddle with anything should the current one die.

Alright, I'm done with road tuning. Any more and this thing needs a dyno cause I aint goin to jail or getin dead.

For whatever reason Closed Loop is being all sorts of wonky, so I stayed with Open Loop boost for now (until I figure out which flavor of boost control PID this particular firmware likes, there's like 5 billion) .

I went and tried moar. 18psi open loop conservative 91 craptane

At 18, 1st is useless. 2nd is nearly useless. 3rd spun pretty hard about half the time.
This is on RS3's and with a 3.6FD.
It's proper fast now :giggle:

The car didn't want to go past 18 without breaking up every now and then. I think the ignition system is about done. Also as you can see, the medium boost actuator is also done. Needs the high boost can or a 4 port to keep it from jigsawing like it does.

I tried to smooth it out with the boost map, but she wasn't havin it.

So anyway, your car is ready Gordon

codrus 09-24-2015 03:37 AM

You need LS3 coils. :)

Holy crap that looks fast.

Have you figured out EV14's and the dead spot they seem to have WRT Accel enrichment when warming up? ISTR you having the same problem as me with your own car, dunno if you've figured it out with this one. I've got no-where with it unfortunately.

Well Done

:eek5: jeeze, That 200tq spot has me like :likecat:

Can't wait to see some videos

18psi 09-24-2015 11:39 AM

Thanks guys :)

Richy,
Weirdly, this car does not have that problem at all. It has a hot re-start leanness that I had to battle (mostly with ASE enrichment and taper settings) but upon warm-up it drives great and has no accel issues.

FrankB 09-24-2015 12:45 PM

Nice! Now tune mine! :D

On another note, I just swapped to the LS2 truck coils and the the wiring is pretty straight forward. No extra module needed. Might be something to look into if you're having spark issues at higher boost.

I think I have all this correct:
EV14 injectors
Return type fueling with large return line
Still has hot restart issues (correctable)

Maybe I will just leave my fuel system alone, since, if I didn't have the AFR gauge in my face, I wouldn't know from drivability that all wasn't just peachy.

I think you tried to convince me before to not worry with it. ;)

I run EV14's (1k ID's at 60 PSI base pressure) and a return fuel setup and have no trouble at all with hot restarts. It's not an inherent problem with the hardware, just has to be tuned like any other setup. If anything I think a return fuel system should improve low load conditions since you can extend your pulse widths due to running lower fuel pressure at idle. My idle improved a bit when going from stock fuel setup to return style.

timk 09-25-2015 12:52 AM

Good stuff! This motivates me to chuck the LS3 coils in and get mine tuned.

The only drivers for me were consistency at trailing throttle, elimination of the damper loop, and possibly smoother AFR (if fixing my exhaust mani didn't take care of that).
