I will admit that I've never driven (or even ridden in) a car with rails + brace, but I feel like the rails are totally worth it by themselves. My case may be a bit extreme with the trashed rail. I didn't order the brace because I kept seeing people say what Ian is saying about the PITA thing. Plus I'm also lazy
Nice job G, I remember when mine was that shiny with no dings/scratches. I can't make myself pony up the cash to add on the butterfly due to having door bars along with fender braces, just doesn't seem necessary.
Gj on the rails and on protecting the fuel/brake lines. Props.
I think the rails are mandatory protection for track use, even with a cage. The fm method of attaching the fuel/brake lines is complete fail though.

... I need to do this. My driver side frame rail is absolutely utterly hammered. That's what I get for high-centering the car on a tree.........
Thanks for posting, and for the review. And for the giggles. Entertaining read.

I actually considered flipping the bolts, or maybe using something like a carriage bolt. Then I came to my senses as I didn't want to turn a bunch of round holes into square holes, plus I don't think I could get them tight enough, and I was tired, and I didn't want to try to find more hardware on a Sunday. Remember the lazy thing?

You will lose a 1/4" of ground clearance but its NBD. Your MSM has all the fancy braces Mazda could come up with, where as my NB1 has next to nothing so YMMV. Like Hornet said above, the bottom studs are suxorz. In fact, I think I snapped one of the studs last night on my terrible driveway but I've not checked yet. Just be prepared to drill and tap the rails & clearance the bolts as I did above and you should have no issues.
BTW: anyone who thinks MazdaComps are "too much" is too old and needs to go back to M.net.
Under 2500. Best bang for the buck is hot idle. Ohhhhhhh yeaaaaaaaah!
Aww, thanks guyth

My progress is slow, but I'm getting it done. Things are really going to start coming together in the next couple months as I work out the turbo and built motor details. I'm super excited to see it all coming together.

Concealer is MSMless. Driving his M.net performance special. I am curious as to why he hates mcomp mounts though.
Yeah doesn't is smooth out above 2500? I'm very seriously considering them honestly... I drive my car so little....... hmmm....................
I need to make more money

I'll chime in here - I swapped personal my car to the Mazda Comp mounts and within one very short summer I pulled them out in two pieces. I think the biggest problem with the AWR mounts (the one's we sell a ton of) is that there is not enough bushing material being used, leaving the 70D mounts feeling much more solid than if you took a traditional mount and made it out of 70D material.
That being said, they are well engineered and frankly there is no magical solution to this problem. It's purely the result of a vehicle engineered to produce no more than 200whp with only two small engine mounts in a comparatively light and insubstantial PPF configuration - if you need 400whp and no vibration you've picked the wrong platform for you budget super-car. Luckily I think most of us on this forum understand that there is a trade off and given the return on investment we all find it reasonable.

Shoot me a PM and we can work out details.
