I'm a legs man though! I just think of it like this my car was self conscious about it's A cups and wanted to make me happy by moving to a C cup.

Before the upgrade she had a flat tire event so why not treat her right!

Exactly. I hate it when people get discouraged when they see my car, everyone has a different definition of good enough, purpose, and fiscal common sense. If you enjoy it, rock it!

To give you an idea of my "common sense" this is the throttle body on my dads 91 VW westy multivan I'm restoring for him...had so much oxidation....

That's my problem, every time I pick a path something "better" happens.

My problem is that I move on a geologic time scale. If I had more time to get things done, I'd be enjoying turbocharged bliss at the moment rather than still fretting over things like fuel filters.

I've drawn my line, now I'm just trying to push it forward ;)

I'm so damn close I can taste it, closer than I've been before with any of the other stuff I've worked with. The engine is almost ready to button up, intercooler is ordered, exhaust is built... all I need to do now is assemble, plumb and run. Its obviously not that simple, but you get the idea.

Now I need to watch out for all the little stuff that is going to bog me down.

I love both your cars and builds.

You are not a downer, you speak the truth. Preach on brother! I appriciate the complements :bigtu:

See? I have this same issue, I looooove building stuff.

Until recently I had a 1966 Mustang that I had been tinkering with for literally a decade while it sat on blocks. I eventually parted it out and sold the shell because I came to the conclusion that no matter how much more time I put into the thing, it was never going to be what I wanted.

The Miata on the other hand could very well be exactly what I want. Now that I have a solid direction, I know exactly where I need to go and what I need to do. With this one, there IS a light at the end of the tunnel.

Sadly, everything Vlad has mentioned; is something you really only get a clear picture of once you go down the rabbit hole. You need a reality backhand to the face at how frustrating your car is, and how little you are enjoying your "hobby". Maybe I'm just stubborn and can't learn from others, as I need to stick my hand in the fire to learn a lesson once.

You are not wrong. The Rotrex taught me this lesson. I was so angry and so frustrated that I was ready to give up and just go buy a V6 Accord or something.

I'm at the point Vlad is at. I just want to enjoy my car. Sure I bought some more " crack" while I'm rebuilding my head, but it is just so I don't have to worry about shit anymore. Take it to the tuner, pick it up, drive.

You got it. What I'm trying to do now is overbuild without adding too much complexity. I'd prefer to spend a little more to overbuild than run things at the ragged edge. Its trying not to go too far down the hole that I need to watch out for.

I've changed directions several times now in the name of simplicity. For example, I sold all the stuff I picked up to convert my car to a 1:1 FPR true return system. Would it have worked? Yes. Would it have made things more complex? Yes. Was the benefit worth the complexity? Probably not. It seemed like a good idea at the time, then I thought better of it.

THIS. I CANNOT WAIT FOR THIS.

I could not drive the Miata for 7 weeks while I waited patiently for my ankle to heal. As soon as I got back in the car I remembered why I bought it and I was in love all over again. I seriously cannot wait to get this boosted.

Sidenote: Monk... IDK WTF you are posting from, but all your posts are marked up with HTML tags when I try to quote them or I get the email notification. Weird shit.

I appreciate the back and forth guys, for serious. This is why I stick around here and post my insanity to this thread. It keeps me on track and I know you guys are experienced enough and honest enough to warn me when I enter scope creep mode. Keep up the good work.

EO2K 05-25-2015 02:35 AM

Believe it or not, I'm actually very happy with everything I have in the build right now ...with one possible exception. Fortunately I'm not worried about it enough to spend more money on it and delay myself even further.

The decisions have been made, plans have been set, now all I have to do is stick to it and follow through. I'd like to see this all done by the end of June. I think that's reasonable.

I still need to pick out a set of injectors though :giggle:

patsmx5 05-25-2015 02:37 AM

I run ID injectors, they work well, and have published data for everything you can imagine (dead times for miata and MS3, battery voltage comp number, stuff at 3 bar and 4 bar published). Very happy with them. And they're cheap*

*One of the things I just typed out isn't true....

18psi 05-25-2015 02:38 AM

the ID1300s are balleur status. Everyone in the world likes them. So basically it's between awesome (id1k) and awesomER (id1.3k).

So really, there is no wrong choice here

1k's will likely be just a smidge easier to set up simply cause so many people here used em already and all the values are posted

aidandj 05-26-2015 06:37 PM

Just looked up the price of 1300s...dafuq? $900?
<br />
<br />Isn't that twice as expensive as ID1000s? I just don't see how they could be twice as good.

Jeffbucc 05-26-2015 06:39 PM

Probably just new-to-the-market price to help offset R&D

rleete 05-26-2015 06:44 PM

R&D? It's just milking the newness of them. Stainless vs. aluminum internals doesn't take much in the way of thought, research or even testing. They are asking that because they think they can.

EO2K 05-26-2015 06:46 PM

I'm ballin' hard motherfuckers! Ya'll can't even step to this! :burncash: :burncash: :burncash:

aidandj 05-26-2015 06:47 PM

Buy ID1000 and spend the extra 500 on your truck. It wants it.

EO2K 05-26-2015 06:47 PM

Ok, everyone clam down... that's the 8 pack price. You know, for V8's? Check other 4 cylinder applications and you'll see its an obvious oversight on their website.

aidandj 05-26-2015 06:50 PM

So the same price as 1000s?
<br />
<br />Nope, go look at the individual prices. Twice as much.

EO2K 05-26-2015 07:03 PM

Christ, go look at Fab9's website
