Just to add a counterpoint . . . .

I've got gauges mounted in the radio panel location and don't have a problem monitoring on track. I work gauge monitoring into my cadence, and find a couple of straights per lap to give them a glance. YMMV.

concealer404 08-04-2015 02:51 PM

I guess still ping Gesso. :giggle: Sticking with my original plan nets me a less baller and capable solution for about a grand less, and money is important right now. So if someone wants this thing in the next couple weeks i'll still dump it. But otherwise... screw gauges.

Poking around on FMs site, no way to touch an Exo for under $10k after everything is said and done. Not sure I can swing that. Oh well, it was a fun thought experiment. :bang:

hey I have an idea how about finish your car and stop day dreaming before I go over there and steal it all and make 5,000,000hp and then sell it 2 months later

hehe

EO2K 08-04-2015 06:58 PM

You are not wrong sir.

Nice, me like. I was actually thinking about something like this last night, I'm just not sure how to mount it without drilling holes in the dash. How did you mount it?

Under the pod is a bracket with a single bolt that has to go through the dash. The pod is secured to the bracket with two pan head screws. I did the install with the dash removed. It might be done with a screw done from the top-side only, under the dash is a fairly solid plastic substrate.

you guys are killing me (spending too much time here now). i first hit miataturbo.net because of the lfx build that ryan passey is starting. then i ran across jeffbuc's build thread, part way through that i took an aside and read both of hornetball's build threads then finished jeffbuc's. then i read the eo2k thread... good thing i'm retired. i totally admire the design/engineering you turbo guys do. i'm hitting the easy button and putting an lfx in mine. build thread is on mx5atlanta.com. build threads are most interesting reading. good ideas flow to the surface all the way through them.

hornetball 08-05-2015 02:03 PM

So . . . I'm like a commercial in Jeffbuc's thread. Hahahahaha!!!

aidandj 08-05-2015 02:04 PM

He does have the longest build thread on the site...

EO2K 08-10-2015 12:05 PM

This is why we all sub eachothers build threads and heckle constantly, keeps us motivated and making bad decisions

Speaking of bad decisions, I'm on my way back from Las Vegas where I've had no data since last Weds. I've got like 30+ thread update notifications in my inbox

If I get home at a reasonable time I'm putting 1.4 on my MS3-B and changing the oil in the Miata.

Its like, you don't remember anything I posted anywhere before I left for a week. :giggle:

I know all of these things and there is no damn way I'm buying a vibrant adapter to use a OEM regulator I don't own. Also all of your links are broken. Turn off that shitty new post format thing already.

Chill bruh, chill. ;)

aidandj 08-11-2015 05:14 PM

Links fixed. Nothing stays in my head. Don't take it personally :)

Not sure what adapter you mean. i assumed you were plugging the oem hole and using both ends of the dual feed to an AFPR.

I thought you were the one that kept pimping the vibrant turbosmart adapter for the stock FPR? Regardless, stock rail and stock regulator are no longer something I'm going to peruse.
 • Initially I had the returnless. At low boost it would probably be fine.
 • I bought the euro regulator stuff because I was looking for a simple way to change the stock system to vac reference so as to minimize the swapping of parts when the time came.
 • Then I bought the EFR and wanted a return system because I was worried about the stock rail and such.
 • Then 99mx5 did a whole bunch of awesome on the stock returnless so I changed my mind and decided to keep it stock.
 • Then I got new injectors and a lust for E85 and I've been questioning keeping the stock fuel system setup.
 • Then Codrus had all kinds of crazy issues on the returnless system so I changed my mind again and decided to go back to the return type system.

So I can understand why you might be confused as to my train(wreck) of a post history if you don't follow closely. I mean, really its my fault for chancing my mind so often. I have no one to blame but myself.

Here are the broad strokes of the current plan:

https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1439330948

The red stuff I may do in -6AN, I've not decided yet. The blue will probably end up being EFI hose with OEM push-on fittings, because ez-mode ;)

In theory, the return type should be more stable and that's exactly what I'm looking for. I've not settled on a regulator yet, but my goal is to make this thing as stable, accurate and repeatable as possible. The last thing I want to build is a finicky beast thats tough to keep in tune. I want to drive it rather than worry about it.

Make any sense? :giggle:

aidandj 08-11-2015 06:11 PM

I was pimping the turbosmart adapter in Eds thread :) similar posts minor differences.

You have that mtuned rail so its easy peasy for you. I think that if you do how you have it in the diagram (+ flex fuel sensor) then you will be set for a longgg time.

Shit, flexfuel unnnngh! I forgot to add that to the diagram.

But yeah, looooooonnnnnnngggggggg time ;)

aidandj 08-11-2015 06:17 PM

Its on the return line, so no more an shiz to buy.

EO2K 08-11-2015 06:20 PM

Well, just a couple of push-on fittings, but yeah, I hear you on that one.

aidandj 08-11-2015 06:21 PM

Been talking to Yank and he is having no issues with his flex fuel sensor. I'm gonna try and get some logs this week and I'll update my e85 thread.

EO2K 08-11-2015 06:28 PM

Oh, thank god someone has it working. See if you can get all the gory details about the setup, configuration, wiring, plumbing, ecu type, firmware version... :D
