pdexta's build: round 3
If in the future you decided to remove the same tar mat that is in the floor boards and inside the fire wall, you might want to try using a heat gun to soften the tar as you scrape it off. I have found that to be the most effective technique. You heat a little, scrape as much as you can until it cools, and repeat process.
I used crimp connectors and heat shrink for my harness after the solder came undone. Solder also if used to heavily will restrict the flow. That why I just used these with heat shrink. Never had any issues since I switch.

Congrats on breaking into 300. Thats badass.

Looking at your super clean trunk makes me sick thinking about mine. It had a standard non sealed battery for a long time before I got it, which = a corroded rusty panel where the battery sits.
This is first on my list this spring to cut out and weld in a nice new piece, engineer a good battery tie down, and paint the inside of the truck (or rhino-line it, etc.)
Anyways, NICE man. I hope you find your issue and get it flying on e85 asap, i want to see some videos.

When I first pulled the carpet out I was amazed at the paint. It's easily the best paint on the car. I've been trying to resist waxing it, lol.

Na, it's definitely from inside the cylinder. You can see how clean the plug/threads are and it's definitely well cooked oil, I couldn't get that lucky. Looking down the plug hole with a flashlight didn't tell me anything significant (I couldn't see oil in the oil pan or anything), but I can't stop thinking what a pain in the *** a partout is going to be.
Don't part it man. I know you've been through a lot, but fix it and keep it for gods sake!
I'd start with a leakdown test to pinpoint and see if rings or head is the culprit and go from there.

I pulled the head yesterday and there are no obvious sources for the oil so I guess that's promising. I started a thread in the engine section hoping to get a few more views than it would here. If you have any input or suggestions please let me know.

The last few months have been more miserable failures. I'm at the point that I'm convinced there's something going on with the car beyond what I'll ever be able to resolve. I'm ready to pull a hustler on this thing, part it all out and go NA.
If any of you guys are interested in turbo or fuel parts let me know. I'm planning to start ripping stuff out soon and putting it up for sale but I figured I'd give those of you reading my miserable failure thread a first shot at claiming dibs.

I don't want to see this parted, as it was inspiration for mine own car. However if you do part it I'd probably be interested your fuel stuff, namely injectors.

This bums me out, but i understand where you are coming from. So that said, GLWS.
You keeping the miata, getting another project, or getting out of the car game altogether for a while?
