Rods and pistons mated together!
Got my ACL bearings in as well, checked clearances with plastigage but I'm having trouble with getting accurate consistent measurments so I'll be busting out the mic's and getting some true clearance answers.

I know you're moving forward. That's why I made the comment. Now you'll have something shoving air in there instead of leaving the engine to suck in air off the exhaust manifold. Much better.

Well, took the micrometers to the mains and crank mains and found my oil clearances to be all sorts of big. The shop that polished my crank told me I would be fine to run standard bearings so I ordered some ACLs before measuring... big mistake
So I ordered undersized +.25mm ACLs and got them today. Bottom end should be done Tuesday finally.
If anyone wants a set of standard sized ACL Race bearings let me know I'll give you a discount since theyre opened!

Posted some of my extra engine rebuild parts in this thread
01 pistons, 01 head gasket, 89-99 thrust washers, ACL race bearings etc.
Checked clearances on the new bearings. Everything checked out great! This semesters about over so I'll be bringing the short block home for assembly.
Any words of advice before diving into the head next month?

My BBS RMs are sold and shipped!
I'll be out of town for a week but when I get back I'll be buying 15x10 6ULs and 225/45 RS3s!
RS3's seem like the right choice. I like to drive the car at least a couple times a week, its not going to the track often as of now except Adam's motorsports (a large go cart track), and theyre cheap!
This seems to be the consensus here, let me know if anyone has any info to add!

My thoughts behind the matter:
1) 15x9 out of stock until March
2) I would need to space them out
a) $100 in extended wheel studs
b) $100 in spacers
3) 10's give me the option to run fatter tires on the track if I ever want to
4) Ive seen RS3s on 10" 6ULs and it doesnt look horrrribly stretched
5) Itll be fine for the street and **** it ill have 10" wide wheels!
p.s. it should be obvious that I'm all about over-building.
I dont need fat rubber now or with the rotrex most likely but why not plan for the future?
p.p.s. Emilio says 15x10's
