Well... where to begin. After the last shift sector being a total flop with going 7 mph slower than last October with a best of 168 mph from the clutch slipping then it lifted the cylinder head. So I said **** on it, I’m going back road racing I registered for the final Miatas at Laguna Seca in October.
There were a few things I wanted to do. Build new control arms, install the new engine, put in the new transmission, build a splitter, build a new spoiler, brake ducting, intercooler ducting, and probably a few other things. Here’s a couple pictures of the control arms so far.
Lowers are 1.5” x .120” wall DOM with 3/4” heims. I’m converting the upper and lower ball joints to thread in style ball joints. They were a Chrysler ball joint back in the day, but are used in a lot of circle track applications now. These ball joints are used for mock up, they will be replaced with adjustable pieces to work on the roll centers and what not

photo dump!
long story short, went to the Miata Reunion, ran decent for the 7 laps I made before it blew up. Did a 1:37.84. Went to GTA and really sucked, ended with a 1:53. Now back to the drawing board!
New turbo s372sxe
new brakes 6 piston Wilwoods, floating rotors
new hot side
new shocks Penske 8300
SWAYBARS! 1.25” splined bar
radiator back up front
ditching the spool for a LSD
electric power steering
also redoing the drivers side door bars for me elbow room
oh and a wing from Kaze Spec Engineering
fuel cell
probably other stuff as well I’m forgetting

Update for the bois. Most everything is there, gotta finish tacking up some stuff. But making some progress.
also sold all the Holley stuff, I bought a ms3pro ultimate, Racepak dash, and I just picked up a dry sump for it. 2021 should be a good year 💪🏻💪🏻

Yes sir, good eye! These were built/valved by Guy Ankeny. Need to get some springs for them and get the reservoirs a permanent home. Pretty excited about those well. Hoping all this go fast stuff is going to help knock off some serious time and let me be competitive in the quest to set Miata lap records

here are some shots of my home brewed bbk. This is a Wilwood forged 6 piston superlite caliper, 12.19” x 1.25” rotor, and a floating hat. Also a couple pictures of that dry sump goodness 🤘🏻🤘🏻

Update on the ride...
Biggest thing, it's not turbo anymore. That being said, it's the most fun I've had with the car in a very long time. The car is fast, set the Laguna Seca Miata chassis record in July at a 1:33.5. I really believe I can get down to sub 30 in it with some chassis adjustment and more seat time. It still has the same aluminum block 5.3, it currently makes 359hp and it runs like a champ. No more overheating, no more melting under the hood, etc.
Things on the to-do list;
install new springs
install new sway bar
build rear subframe for Winters Quick Change
install fuel cell
Then back to more sorting out, then out for some ST1 action in it.
Here is the lap around Laguna as well as a lap around Sonoma. Sonoma had a 3.08 gear in it so it was a dog. Can't wait to go back in November and try and ****** that record as well. Then next year I'll go for Thunderhill East/West, Buttonwillow, and maybe ACC if I can get down there before it goes bye bye

Awesome update. Glad you're able to just enjoy the car without worrying if it's gonna break as much. After I wrecked my last turbo car and built my current NC track car as N/A I have not looked back. **** just works.
