What ms do you have? The nb should work well enough. It is what I would use.

So I rewired my MS to use MS3 outputs instead of MS2, like I should have to begin with.

Isnt is beautiful?

My tach works! It helps when you wire the harness properly. Also installed rev tach face FTW.

I verified the 99 motor in the garage has its knock sensor, I need to steal it and mount it. Wire is ran to pass side of block, just need to splice the connector in near the TB and connect the sensor. Then Ill mount oil cooler, and hopefully a tune and some track time by january.

Any input on knock control setup in tuner studio is appreciated.

Just log the sensor to begin with and figure out a base or background range. You will likely see spikes at low rpm and load so you can see what to disregard for retard settings. At boost it should be pretty quiet compared to say, idle. This is where you want to retard timing if you see spikes above what will be a slightly lower baseline than idle and low rpm cruise. I usually see around 83% in boost and consider anything above 84.2% to be actual knock and retard 10*. When it activates, it feels like something went wrong(at least how I have it set up) but it will show in the timing log. It has only activated a few times when I filled up at an unusual gas station and very early on. In contrast I often see random 85% values at idle with 10* of timing.

Thanks for the tips. I'm not looking forward to mounting this in the factory location with the intake on....

I mounted the mega sizes oil cooler today. It now takes the spot meant for the AC fan.

I stole the knock sensor and oil warmer from the 99 motor.

With the stock knock location, NA oil sender will not fit. Google showed me to just extend the sender out from the block with a ~1" union.

I painted the brackets, trimmed the fan shroud a little, fabbed lines and mounted the cooler permanently.

Clears intake piping and alt. with plenty of room to spare. I was able to do the entire oil cooler setup for about $230.

Hive mind, please help. Some *** wants to sell me a 3.9, but the pinion looks fuked to me. Ive rebuilt many rear ends and have never seen a pinion machined like this, but its so uniform and clean, it doesn't look like it wore that way too.

See the the sides of the teeth? Looks like the ring gear is wearing the pinion teeth faces down?

I don't know about the gears, but I do like your oil cooler setup, it's pretty baller. That thing is huge, should keep your oil temps down no problem.

I have seen it in person.
It is odd how even and cleanly it is worn.

Not that odd. It's metal spinning at high speeds. Some misalignment could cause some lathing.

No ****?
I meant it is unusual in the fact that the wear is so uniform.

So many sensitive variables. Cmon Mr. Tribology.... Unlikely and odd yes, but not impossible. It still looks like a 2nd machining operation though.

Regarding the cooler mount as ive been asked a few times: its just 1/2" steel round with holes drilled through it to mount to the a/c fan bosses on the radiator. Its 4 pieces with the longer 2 drilled and tapped at each end for m6, the shorter ones are only drilled and tapped at one end. A threaded stud connects the long and short rods and captures the passenger side cooler tab in between them. Then a small m6 goes in the other side of the longer rod and captures tbe drivers side mounting tabs.
