**** it. I am following in Bob's footsteps and copying his red beast and I am going to see how much weight I can pull out of my car. As this is not a DD and hopefully will primarily become a track car I think it will be livable.
So track people, how required is the defrost? I am seriously considering removing the heater core. I figure I can always leave a rag in the car to wipe down the inside window if it starts fogging up.

Sounds like its time to hack up the dash and shorten the harness. (and sell me the radio surround that you don't need anymore) Put the fuse box, most of the relays, ecu, etc. where the ac box used to be. That should keep your wires as short as possible. Then a big mil-spec connector at the firewall for the engine bay harness. Oh.. are you going to take it as far as a roll cage, hacking out the package shelf and seat belt towers etc. similar to the 'time attack twins' type build?

Rollcage will come one day. Not anytime soon though.

So I talked to Bob tonight, he said to keep the heater core. I think I am going to put in my 1.6 dash for now and leave all the wiring. Then I will proceed to get my car running. In the meantime I am going to take my 95 wiring harness and strip it down to the bare minimum. This was I can just swap everything over one weekend sometime early next year.
I will post pictures in a little bit.

Well seeing Bob's LS1 miata wanted to make me get mine working. He is dynoing on the 18th and I might see if I can get my car working by then and possibly dyno it at 10psi or something.
Also this means I can put some of the things I need for the harness on my Christmas list.
Comeplete 95 wiring harness. Every wire that you can imagine in a miata is in this harness.
This section goes from under the dash to the ECU behind the seat. this is what I really want to shorten so that I can move my MS under my dash. Basically the plan is to plug in my adapter harness for MS and then remove every wire that does not go to my MS. Then go back tot he other end and do the same.

This picture is the wiring harness that goes from behind the dash to behind the passenger seat. The two yellow plugs go to the ecu, and the 2 whites and 1 blue go under the dash.
Here are shots of it after I pulled out all the wires that my MS3 does not hook to. I removed 29 wires and kept 24.
The plan now is to find out what those correspond to on the other side of the harness and start pulling them there.

So I have come to find out that I am missing the part of the wiring harness that goes behind the dash that hooks to the heater and stereo and such. I have the one from my 94 harness and one from my 92 dash, unfortunately neither of those 2 plug into the 95 harness. FML
