i live on the edge.

soviet 06-01-2012 02:13 AM

well today I finished all the immediate work I planned.
http://s95367906.onlinehome.us/photo...d/DSC_0697.jpg

- LS2/Truck coils installed, with cave-man 22 gauge sheet-metal bracket. It's crude but very strong
- Coils wired in full sequential
- Injector wiring re-did. No more Injector Dynamics clip thingys. Wired everything straight in
- Changed the CAS pigtail. Old one had a crack in the wire insulation, exposing wires. Most likely cause of sync errors I was having.
- Catch can installed. Sausage line team reporting in!
- Changed valve cover gasket because old one was leaking

Hope I didn't forget anything.

soviet 06-03-2012 03:27 PM

So my turbo no longer has a turbine wheel.

soviet 06-03-2012 03:43 PM

http://s95367906.onlinehome.us/photo...t/DSC_0710.jpg

Yep, it's not there.
I'm going to get drunk now.

HOLY *******************

Can't wait to see what the haters/lovers/fanbois are going to say.

Good luck man

soviet 06-03-2012 03:52 PM

car still drives great
just N/A and burns oil on acceleration. Compressor wheel spins freely and has a tiny bit of play.

The failure was very uneventful, too. Just POOF and no boost. There was a bit of the rattle in the exhaust (turbine wheel making it's way out ) for the next like 50 miles (I had plans after autox) but I guess it found it's way out.

Faeflora 06-03-2012 04:05 PM

It didnt get stuck in the muffler?

18psi 06-03-2012 04:09 PM

Hey Fae, how about them borgwarners bro? :giggle:

I drove like 70 miles since it fell off. I could hear it ratting around, finding it's way out of the exhaust. I checked the muffler and it's not there.

Wouldn't be surprised if it punctured someone's tires :giggle:

Miater 06-03-2012 05:06 PM

Does the exhaust note sound weird?

Sounds, drives, acts like N/A. Gonna contact Full Race about replacement, because that's an epic fail defect.

I wonder if warranty is transferable, because you did buy the turbo second hand.

wittyworks 06-03-2012 10:05 PM

Yep he bought it from me. I gave him the original receipt and it is still like two weeks until a year passes. I couldn't locate the warranty sheet though, which would have the details about transferring. I can't imagine that he won't be given a replacement. It was clearly a defect if he just made 320 whp on the dyno, and completed a track day and some autox. Hopefully full race steps up and does the right thing.

Faeflora 06-04-2012 02:34 AM

i say that fail, in technical terms

SCUSK MYT FUKKKN DICK

:makeout: I'll start a hotline. 1-800-sexy-efr

Called Full Race. Talked to one of their very sleepy guys (8:30AM in Phoenix). Sent them picture & video. Awaiting response.

I'm sure the the last thing they wanted to hear on monday morning is an unbreakable $1500 turbo breaking (that's still on warranty).

I would kill for an opportunity to drive your car again. It was so good that I'm really tempted to sell the Vette and build a replica.

If you need to get further up the full race food chain, ask to talk to Raffi. He's super helpful and thats who I always spoke to.

Getting praise from a LingenVette owner is not frequent.:makeout:

Oh I know. It's funny, if you actually buy the right parts, car turns out great. If you cheapen out and buy 3rd world parts (*cough* koni sport), it sucks :jerkit:

I think 700whp. I THINK. Something stupid like 285 Pilot Cup tires in rear

Yes I do. I should have bought 3 pairs - they don't come in this color anymore. Orange is pretty much the best color ever.

soviet 06-04-2012 06:13 PM

Full-Race says they will have an RMA for me tomorrow.
However, the turbo won't arrive until mid-august

Options
free:
- Run N/A (no thanks, would rather park it)
- Install old T25 hotside (would need inconel studs and BOV at least...)

not-free:
- Buy a used EFR6258 -or- try to find it in stock somewhere
- Buy a EFR6758 (are these easier to find?)
- Use my Airwerks S246 that I have sitting here. It's T4 flange and 4.31" v-band outlet with no wastegate
- ????

18psi 06-04-2012 07:00 PM

Any option pretty much really SUCKS.

soviet 06-04-2012 07:03 PM

If I can find an EFR 6258 in stock that's not part of the "sorry we didn't follow the recipe" batch, I'll buy it. And as long as it's not too retardedly overpriced.

soviet 06-04-2012 07:12 PM

I am bummed out as fuсk. I wanted to drive my car all summer, not jerk around.

Faeflora 06-04-2012 07:40 PM

I thought that the whole point of building a fast heavily modified turbo car was to have shiit break and then jerk around?

soviet 06-04-2012 07:42 PM

if so, you want to lend me your hotside? you can still jerk around with your transmission.

18psi 06-04-2012 07:53 PM

perfect idea.

his transmission isn't coming out til end of july, and the new one won't go in til september.

and since you're not retarded, you'll actually get it dyno'd. WIN

rleete 06-04-2012 07:54 PM

What makes you so optimistic?

18psi 06-04-2012 07:58 PM

I'm guessing because bitching about it won't get him his replacement any sooner.

soviet 06-04-2012 08:02 PM

So here's the plan. I'm going to spend the next couple of days using my KGB connections scouting for an EFR6258 or possibly a 6758. If it doesn't happen (i.e. 99% chance) I'll install my old setup.

If anyone has any sources let me know. I has money. I already sent Savington a PM, maybe he can hook me up <3

I hate that begi 2pc retarded bolt downpipe. I won't have inconel studs. I won't track it. But ---- it's better than running N/A.

rleete 06-04-2012 08:04 PM

No, I meant you in regards to Fae's timetable.

Soviet, I hope things work out for you.

18psi 06-04-2012 08:05 PM

oh lol:laugh:

Leo,

I was going to say PM Sav but you're on the ball already.

is the mani/turbo/dp the only thing you'll need to swap to run the other setup? that's not too bad in that case. anything is faster than an n/a miata lol

Faeflora 06-04-2012 08:08 PM

Welp my new setup is likely not track worthy

and

my old setup has a garrett turbo. which means you will track it 5 times and the CHRA will blow up.

i do have 4 10mm incolnel studs in my garage

soviet 06-04-2012 08:09 PM

I'll need to swap the whole thing, minus maybe the intercooler. T25 doesn't have an integrated BOV.

I need boost or to get laid. I seriously can't take this anymore. Going home to my 24-pack. Thanks.

18psi 06-04-2012 08:13 PM

beer? you are hereby disowned by Mother Russia. Vodka or bust

soviet 06-04-2012 09:47 PM

my friend suggestion Option Z)
Sell T25 kit
Sell 1.6 engine sitting in garage
Sell old MS2
Sell complete 99 head sitting in garage
Sell other misc ---- lying around

Buy motorcycle. Profit until September.

The only issue I see with that is the fact that it's the worst time of the year to get a bike.

I had both. The bike is 4x more likely to kill you. No joke. Idiots swerving into your lane, cutting you off, tailgating you, etc etc etc.

As much as I wanna say "get a bike", I can't. I sold mine after a co-workers husband got brought home as a bag of bones

pusha 06-04-2012 10:29 PM

I drive a Ford F250. Possibly the safest car I could find. Safe for just me of course.

ianferrell 06-04-2012 10:41 PM

If you do give up on it... I will find a way to buy the kit minus Turbo and buy a 6758 for built vvt ssm pwnage.... drooling a little.

soviet 06-04-2012 11:34 PM

Savington killed any hope I had of getting another EFR 6258.
So I'll put on my le old T25 kit back on and casually drive the car.

I'll still be on a lookout for another EFR from private parties/ebay but as it stands they are impossible to find. So I'll be driving the ole' journal bearing POS until mid-August (or more realistically, October. because that's how estimates usually work out)

I have a new 6258 that I'd be ok to part with. As things stand, its going to be awhile before I can get my car turboed.

soviet 06-05-2012 04:42 AM

Bryce I'll be your personal servant for a month if this goes through.

Braineack 06-05-2012 08:28 AM

Bryce now all you need is some vodka and you're going to score.

18psi 06-05-2012 08:38 AM

in for comrade-docking

18psi 06-05-2012 08:39 AM

BTW: since my work computer only has shitty IE which doesn't resize, your pictures are sodomizing my screen. :vash:

Braineack 06-05-2012 08:46 AM

the forum software should resize pics automatically...at least after they fully load.

skidude 06-05-2012 08:58 AM

I'm stuck on IE7 at work, and the pictures resize just fine for me. Not until after they load, but they do resize eventually. Once in a while some topic will go beyond the edge of my screen a little, but mostly they work fine.
