Yes, but I want to at least have some sort of deflection so the shovel affect is minimized. I do not expect it to withstand a high speed off, but if I can at least make it so that it can bend slightly before completely ripping off then that good enough for me. Kinda seems like I'm contradicting myself but its hard to articulate.

These should, in theory, allow the splitter to move upward, while eliminating lateral movement. Which is what I'm going for. Any objections?

Ok, so I guess I should explain myself here.

Basically, I bought this:

Here is the pretty side.....

Now why the hell.......did I buy this piece of ****? Well, I got it for 1600. The hardtop alone is with like 1k at least over where I live. Along with that, it has a hard dog roll bar, a brand new still in the box FM stage 1 clutch (who wants it?), maxspeed? coilovers (probably junk), hardtop locks, and it has a torsen LSD for all the mad skids yo.

So if I keep the hardtop, and part out the rest of the car, I will make my money back, and profit the rest. Good deal if you ask me. So uh, anybody need any parts?

The hardtop was just repainted so I'm stoked about that. No defrost, but I'm not sure I am gonna keep a glass window in there anyways so I'm not too worried about it.

Im not complaining about it not being color matched. I mean, it was free. I will probably wrap the windshield frame gloss black. At least now my wing will actually be effective.

This part is optional reading, but if you want some entertainment, stick around. Brian Z. was kind enough to drive me 2hrs away to go pick up the car. We chatted about how we are starting to feel sick *cough cough*. And that we should just skip school the next day and go to Global time attack at Buttonwillow instead.

We eventually got to the guys house, and it was wet, raining, and cold. After a quick glance at the car, I knew that the drive home was going to be.....interesting. After monies were given over, we shook hands, and it was time for the drive home. Its about 9pm at his point. Brian and I devised a quick game plan. He was to stay behind me for as long as he could until he had to take his exit to head home.

My first stop, I lock up the brakes. The amount of grip was laughable. Super sketchy. While entering onramps, I thought the clutch was slipping, but I was actually just lighting up the rear tires. To make it worse, the interior of the car was fogging up like crazy, I couldnt see squat. The wipers were useless, and the windshield has a stupid banner (that doesn't even say anything) that made visibility limited to about 4 inches between the hood and the banner. To make matters even worse, the car is straight piped from the header back, and the front is so slammed, that the front lip was dragging on the ground while driving down the road, it didn't help that the steering wheel was turned 45* while going straight.

As Brian signaled his departure, I was still only half way home. Oh, I forgot to mention, the car isn't registered. So when I saw cop lights flashing about .5 mile down the freeway, my butt checks were tighter than the bead of a tire. Thankfully, he pulled onto the freeway one car ahead of me. So all I had do to was stay behind him, and hope he doesn't notice the no front plate, or the fact that it basically had candles for headlights. From that point on, it was just enduring the deafining noise, the awful bumpy ride, and limited visibility the rest of the way home.

That might have been the most scared I have ever been inside a car in my life....never again.

thats a great buy. you can easily part out an NB1 for $2k, not including the hardtop which you will keep.

running engine $600-800
5sp 200
roll bar $300
wheels/tires $200-300
torsen 5-600
fm clutch 250
coil overs $200

Total: $2250

and thats just the big ticket items. not to mention you are keeping a 1k hardtop and turning a profit.

yea. it just made sense. now, i just have to keep the thieves away from my car. SJ has had a really bad time with hardtop thieves lately. Cowlover and I are involved in tracking them down and getting them put in jail where they belong.

Anyways, back to my car. Ive been having a weird issue where it kinda sounds like I flat spotted my front right tire. not sure what going on, but if I turn left, you can hear/feel it more than going streight. And if I'm in a parking lot and make a tight left, the front right kind of clicks or something. Hard to describe.

Awww man. Wish you were closer. I would have traded you my hardtop for yours. Yours is the same color as my car. I'd swap the trunk, hood, front bumper, and tupperware too haha. Womp.

Good buy for sure. What exactly are hardtop locks? I need to do something to secure my top better.

I think your new "car" made me a little deaf, and I was 100ft behind it. The few highway pulls —if you can call them that— made me giggle. Good times.

Hardtop "Locks" are these things: https://www.topmiata.com/shop/hardtop-brackets/

They aren't effective at all. the hardware is either baisic hex, or the "security hardware" which is hex with a little stud in the middle. You can buy the key for that at home depot.

This is the most effective way of securing your top that I have found. Looks great too.

Turns out you were correct sir! My front right wheel bearing was shot. I was shocked considering I just put it on the car. I have my fingers crossed this was the source of my pad knock back issue as well. I put my stock OEM hub back on, the pulsating has gone away.

I have my last track day at Laguna this weekend. its a 105db day. We originally booked it for my dads e90 m3 because it doesn't pass sound normally. But he can't make it. SO, this means I have to kick it into high gear to get my car dialed in and ready to go.

Brian Z. has been a huge help in helping me. He was able to get my seat quite a bit lower by flipping some things around. So now I am at the PERFECT seating position which I am very exited about.

Tomorrow I am going to fix an issue with my exaust. My midpipe is banging around for some reason. So Ill fix that. Im also gonna install my Momo wheel and suck release. With the new seating position (I am farther forward) it is very difficult to get in and out of the car. So the quick release should help with that.

Also, I need to get cracking on the new splitter if I am going to run aero this weekend.

I also booked a track day on December 2nd with the Roadster Cup Series at Buttonwillow. It is a time attack event with just miatas. I will be in the Unlimited class. I am extremely exited to try a new track. I am getting kind of bored with Laguna. Its just too fast for my car. Streight......left......streight......right......s treight.....left. You get the point. Its also very hard on equipment. So I go through gas, brake pads, and tires faster than I would like. Along with the stress the motor, being stock internals, its just time for a change. GTA SLB has given me some inspiration to try and uncork the potential of my car with whatever power I have. I just have to balance that with the fact that its my daily. lol.
