You can't see it but there is door trim in the edge of the rad support to prevent damage to the oil line. think of the stuff they use when people do bumper cuts.

Lowok at the middle of the rotor, see that ring? It sounds like something is touching the rotor other than the pad. But its intermittent. Low speed (under 10mph) while hard braking will make the noise, but I cant hear it while driving normally.

Im gonna pull it apart today and see whats going on.

In other news, I got a new to me momo wheel and NRG 2.0 quick release for the track. Yes, I know its missing one screw, dont worry, I got a new one.

Sigh, alllllllright.

Sorry i don't really have input on your issue, but i am pretty appalled at how different those are from the cheapos.

I have the same issue of the pad dragging on the passenger side after installing a Wilwood 1'' master. TSE BBK. Originally, thought to be air in the system but no luck. Interested in your results.

The pad isnt dragging in the front, in the rear it is. But thats a different issue. Something is touching the rotor under low speed braking, im gonna have to pull it apart when I get home. Stay tuned.

Friction radius and mounting arm shape/radius are drastically different from the $35 rotors.

Alright, I found the issue

Look how much meat is left in these. Its a shame they stuck the wear bars out so far.

So, ordering a new set tomorrow. One thing I do like a lot is the even wear. These calipers are stiffer than I expected. Much like.

Side note, these got toasty.

Another side note, My brake duct hose ripped. Is there anything I can use to patch it? Gaffers tape?

Sorry for crappy pics. But I had the phone backwards for that last pic and couldnt really see. But you get the idea.

Heh, pads with rivets in them. I'm glad the DTC-60s don't have that, I've worn them down much further than that!

If you have any leftover scraps from the brake duct, you can cut off the damaged bit and then screw one piece into another. It's a bit fiddly and you wind up with a small section that won't bend very well, but it works.

Cool. Thanks for the tip Ian. Ill see if I can just patch it before resorting to cutting it off. I would have to cut slits in the new pice in order to slide it in the the existing hose right? I don really see how it would go together otherwise.

If you look at the hose, it's basically a spiral of wire with the hose material around the outside. It's possible to take one piece of hose and literally "screw" it into the other, the two spirals nest inside each other.

PFC's are bonded but Cobalt pads are riveted like that and give up usable material. For a similar price I will go with more material whenever possible.
