You're describing the plot of Early Edition. A fairly lame TV show from the mid 90s. The schtick is that each morning, an orange cat delivers a copy of the following day's newspaper to this guy, and then he figures out how to prevent whatever bad thing the writers came up with this episode from happening. It was basically Quantum Leap, only with a cat instead of Dean Stockwell.

This went on for four seasons.
