ive never understood why the govt is paid to transport literal trash directly to your mailbox.

sometimes they deliver the goods:

They were arrested in connection with their “theft and unauthorized use of credit cards to defraud several national financial institutions, credit card companies, and major retailers, resulting in more than $1.3 million in intended losses as well as the theft of hundreds of identities.”
we should definitely trust them with our mail-in ballots. they are most secure that way.

Don't worry, there's still Google and Facebook ready (and willing) to shadow ban and algorithm their way to an election win. Gee, if there was only a law that protected the public from monopolies...

I can't help but to perceive a fundamental similarity between those people crying out that government needs to break up monopolies, and those crying out that government needs to force corporations to have diverse governing boards.

Businesses which do a certain thing really well tend to grow and prosper.

Some might draw a comparison between that, and the tendency of people from certain ethnic and cultural backgrounds to also prosper and rise to the top of corporate governance.

To forcibly break up either form of homogeneity is to argue that the products of natural selection are contrary to your own personal view of the ideal structure of society.

I've been pretty consistent regarding monopolies. Regardless of any SCOTUS ruling, I think government unions should not exist because they're a monopoly. When one company controls over 80% of the world's internet traffic, and can easily quash or purchase any competitors, I'd say that's a monopoly. Having just been through HELL with an arbitrary shut-down of my gmail email--with no initial reason why--I'm not a fan of the Google monopoly. When we see collusion between social media, Google, Big Pharma and government to quash information and stop open dialogue, then YEP, crushing monopolies is required.

Forcing a company to add colors or sexes to their BOD is just plain racist and sexist. Completely different concept.

It's OK Cord, Joe wants to pretend that people calling for antitrust laws to be enacted are the same as those calling for mandatory diversity in corporate leadership much the way he views "businesses which do a certain thing really well tend to grow and prosper" even though they did those things by forcing/suing/buying all of their competition out of business as "products of natural selection".

Some interesting facts about Rockefeller and Standard Oil.
1) They consistently gave the consumer the best product at the lowest price.
2) When the US government broke up Standard Oil, Rockefeller ended up with a share of each of the new companies, and his net worth actually increased.
