Well yeah, we are not talking about Clinton. She lost the election. Everything about her is no longer relevant. Bringing her up is just stupid and a waste of time.

how to real news:

https://apnews.com/e18f254c4ac84e6bab4ceed56401cc65

The Associated Press (AP) has accused President Donald Trump of inventing a man named Jim.

In an article titled, “Trump in Paris: The curious case of his friend Jim,” the outlet states, “the way Trump tells it – Jim is a friend who loves Paris and used to visit every year. Yet when Trump travels to the city Thursday for his first time as president, it’s unlikely that Jim will tag along. Jim doesn’t go to Paris anymore. Trump says that’s because the city has been infiltrated by foreign extremists.”

The piece continues, “whether Jim exists is unclear. Trump has never given his last name. The White House has not responded to a request for comment about who Jim is or whether he will be on the trip.”

This is alleged to be the label on a T-shirt made in Poland. I have no second-source verification that this is true.

Not a subject I normally get into (because, what's the point, on an internet car forum?), but this article is worth a read.

I've Worked with Refugees for Decades. Europe's Afghan Crime Wave Is Mind-Boggling. The National Interest

An excerpt:
This is not an article that has been fun for me to write. I have worked on issues related to refugees for much of my professional life, from the Pakistani camps during the Soviet occupation of Afghanistan to Yemen, Sudan, Thailand, Ethiopia, Djibouti, Lebanon, Bosnia, Nicaragua and Iraq, and have deep sympathy for their plight. But nowhere had I encountered a phenomenon like this one. I had seen refugees trapped in circumstances that made them vulnerable to rape, by camp guards or soldiers. But for refugees to become perpetrators of this crime in the place that had given them asylum? That was something new. Further, my personal and professional life has endowed me with many Afghan and Afghan American friends, and there is nothing collectively psychopathic about them. They are doctors, shopkeepers, owners of Japanese restaurants, airport sedan drivers, entrepreneurs, IT experts, salesladies at Macy’s—they’re like everyone else. The parent generation tends to be a bit stiff, formal and etiquette conscious. It is impossible to imagine any of them engaging in the sort of outlandish, bizarre and primitive sexual aggression their young compatriots are becoming infamous for. Yet here we are.

I was with it until the very last paragraph, where the inevitable lib paranoia came shining through; it's clearly all a conservative ploy.

someone call this hippy a bad name:

A New York Times opinion piece claims that speech which hurts one’s feelings equates to violence.

In an article titled When Is Speech Violence? the author tries to conflate mental anguish and a case of hurt feelings with actual physical violence.

The author claims that the physical symptoms of stress induced by speech you don’t agree with can have a physiological impact upon you.

The piece goes on to argue that if you’re causing someone chronic stress that you’re going to shrink their telomeres and cause their cytokines to make them sick.

So, trolls beware, you’re causing your victims to be physically sick – and shortening their lives – just by upsetting them.

The article concludes by saying that people like Milo Yiannopoulos are actually committing violence with their terrible hate speech and that they should be kept from college campuses.

An Australian woman by the name of Justine Damond, who called 911 to report a possible crime, was allegedly shot in the abdomen by Minnesota policeman Mohamed Noor, 31, through the driver car door of the patrol car as she spoke to Noor and his partner.

Many of the details of this case have not been disclosed, reports The Minneapolis Star Tribune, but certain information has been shared with the public.

The outlet states that Damond – had called 911 to report a possible assault in an alleyway behind her house. She was allegedly unarmed.

According to The Daily Mail, Noor allegedly aimed at Damond from the passenger seat as she was talking to his partner through the driver side window, then shot her in the abdomen and ultimately killed her.

Noor, who has been in the police force for two years, was the precincts, first Somali-American officer. Attorney Thomas Plunkett said in a statement that Noor “takes these events very seriously.”

“Officer Noor extends his condolences to the family and anyone else who has been touched by this event. He takes their loss seriously and keeps them in his daily thoughts and prayers.”

“He came to the United States at a young age and is thankful to have had so many opportunities. He takes these events very seriously because, for him, being a police officer is a calling. He joined the police force to serve the community and to protect the people he serves. Officer Noor is a caring person with a family he loves and he empathizes with the loss others are experiencing,” the statement read.

“The current environment for police is difficult, but Officer Noor accepts this as part of his calling. We would like to say more, and will in the future. At this time, however, there are several investigations ongoing and Officer Noor wants to respect the privacy to the family and asks the same in return during this difficult period,” the statement concluded.

So, Godless Commie, is this a real thing?

Turkey's new school curriculum drops evolution and will teach concept of jihad
Education minister says 'the real meaning of jihad is loving your nation'

The bottom line is: generations who ask questions, that's what the government fears'

Turkey's new school curriculum drops Charles Darwin's theory of evolution and adds the concept of jihad as patriotic in spirit.

The move has fuelled fears President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is subverting the republic's secular foundations.

The chairman of a teachers' union has described the changes as a huge step in the wrong direction for Turkey's schools and an attempt to avoid raising "generations who ask questions".

Ismet Yilmaz, the country's education minister, said the controversial decision to exclude the theory of evolution was "because it is above the students' level and not directly relevant."

A member of the opposition Republican People's Party, Mustafa Balbay, said any suggestion the theory was beyond their understanding was an insult to high school students.

"You go and give an 18-year old student the right to elect and be elected, but don't give him the right to learn about the theory of evolution...This is being close minded and ignorant."

The theory of evolution is rejected by both Christian and Muslim creationists, who believe God created the world as described in the Bible and the Koran, making the universe and all living things in six days.

Mr Erdogan, accused by critics of crushing democratic freedoms with tens of thousands of arrests and a clampdown on media since a failed coup last July, has in the past spoken of raising a "pious generation".

The curriculum, effective from the start of the 2017-2018 school year, also obliges Turkey's growing number of "Imam Hatip" religious schools to teach the concept of jihad as patriotic in spirit.

"It is also our duty to fix what has been perceived as wrong. This is why the Islamic law class and basic fundamental religion lectures will include [lessons on] jihad," Mr Yilmaz told reporters. "The real meaning of jihad is loving your nation."

Jihad is often translated as "holy war" in the context of fighters waging war against enemies of Islam; but Muslim scholars stress that it also refers to a personal, spiritual struggle against sin.

Mehhmet Balik, chairman of the Union of Education and Science Workers (Egitim-Is), condemned the new curriculum.

"The new policies that ban the teaching of evolution and requiring all schools to have a prayer room, these actions destroy the principle of secularism and the scientific principles of education," he said.

Under the AKP, which came to power in 2002, the number of "Imam Hatip" religious schools has grown exponentially. Erdogan, who has roots in political Islam, attended one such school.

He has spent his career fighting to bring religion back into public life in constitutionally secular Turkey and has cast himself as the liberator of millions of pious Turks whose rights and welfare were neglected by a secular elite.

Liberal Turks see Mr Erdogan as attempting to roll back the work of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, the Western-facing founder of modern Turkey who believed education should be free of religious teachings.

Some government critics have said the new curriculum - which was presented for public feedback earlier this year - increased the emphasis on Islamic values at the expense of Ataturk's role.

But Mr Yilmaz said nothing about Ataturk or his accomplishments had been removed. Changes only emphasised core values such as justice, friendship, honesty, love and patriotism.

He said discussion of the militant Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK), Isis and the network of the US-based cleric Fethullah Gulen, whom Ankara blames for last year's attempted coup, would also be added.

Mr Balik, the head of the union, said the changes were being made in an attempt to stamp out dissenting ideas.

"The bottom line is: generations who ask questions, that's what the government fears," he said.

it's worse than just that. Dude freaked out and fired at her from the passenger seat across his partner. she actually called them to report something, and went to the car in pajamas to talk.

Police are trained to shoot and kill everyone when they are scared. He heard a noise and by his own training, killed someone he was sworn to protect. Police aren't trained to analyze and rationalize, they are trained to murder first, and deal with the pesky law second. This is exactly why you don't call the cops, even if you suspect someone else is getting sexually assaulted. It's not worth dying to potential save a rape victim -- best case, they only arrest you and beat you up.

also:

Since 2016, Minneapolis has required all officers to wear and activate body cameras “at all times when they could reasonably anticipate that they may become involved in a situation for which activation is appropriate,” as noted by HuffPo.

But these officers conveniently managed to turn off both of their body cameras and the dashcam before entering the alleyway in response to Damond’s call about an alleged sexual assault taking place behind her home.

Two courses in Australia’s most prestigious law school reportedly call for elements of Sharia Law to be implemented into the main legal system of the country.

The Daily Telegraph reports that one course, the “Muslim Minorities And The Law” course at Sydney University, uses a textbook which claims that “sharia and common law are not inherently incompatible.”

“They are both ‘law’ in the sense they represent and communicate a set of ‘norms’ that operate at both individual and a community level,” claims the book.

...

“There is no minimum age for a contract of marriage, but it should not be consummated if that would cause harm to the putative spouse,” the book claims.

“Whilst some have argued that there may be reasons for changing marriage laws to include polygamous marriages… there have not been any proposals for any legislative amendment proposed by the Muslim communities in our Common Law jurisdictions.”

The book also takes aim at judges for their denunciation of conservative Islam.

“Where found guilty of transgressing Western values, for example in gender equality, or violating national security, courts have clearly communicated their denunciation of ‘traditional’ or conservative Muslim values when sentencing, dispensing exemplary sentences and announcing aggravating factors, even when the written law does not explicitly demand it,” it says.

This revelation of this book comes at the same time the leader of Hezbollah, a terrorist group, denounced the West for its opposition to child marriage. The leader also called for Muslims to “spread it to the West.”

That's not fair. Most Aussie fatalities at the hands of police are pet kangaroos mistaken as dangerous dogs.
