I think it's less about employment discrimination, and more about the logistics of pulling out the plasma torch to create a third bathroom in a submarine.

I completely understand.

But in order to be effective, that meme needs to depict a person who has difficulty decoding which button to press, wanting to press either both or neither.

In this case, a sane and rational non SJW person would push the "mentally ill people shouldn't have guns" button without hesitation, because they either don't believe that trans people should serve in the military or don't have a strong opinion about it. No conflict.

But to a trans- activist, there's also no conflict, for the opposite reason. Regardless of what some medical text, they don't consider men who think they're women or vise versa to be mentally ill. Thus, they can serve in the military without being affected by the "mentally ill people shouldn't have guns" button.

Again, this is about emotion and perspective, not logic and rationality.

If a Marine comes home from active duty and is diagnosed with PTSD, does he fall into the category of "mentally ill"? Do we deny guns to those who have used them on a daily basis under the direction of our government?

And speaking of "mentally ill", only recently has narcissism been classified as a personality trait rather than a mental disorder. If you get in the weeds there's NPD which is, but we all can think of two or three Presidents who are classic narcissists. And speaking of red buttons...

That's an interesting question, and one that seems to be of great interest right now both within combat-medicine circles and without. The DSM5 says things like:

Symptoms of negative changes in thinking and mood may include:
  • Negative thoughts about yourself, other people or the world
  • Hopelessness about the future
  • Memory problems, including not remembering important aspects of the traumatic event
  • Difficulty maintaining close relationships
  • Feeling detached from family and friends
  • Lack of interest in activities you once enjoyed
  • Difficulty experiencing positive emotions
  • Feeling emotionally numb
  • Changes in physical and emotional reactions

Symptoms of changes in physical and emotional reactions (also called arousal symptoms) may include:
  • Being easily startled or frightened
  • Always being on guard for danger
  • Self-destructive behavior, such as drinking too much or driving too fast
  • Trouble sleeping
  • Trouble concentrating
  • Irritability, angry outbursts or aggressive behavior

These seem like the sort of behavioral problems which might be negatively correlated with being a responsible, safe, trustworthy gun-owner, especially for an individual operating outside of a cohesive unit and chain of command for the first time.

Based on your list above, it's possible that my children have given me PTSD.

This isn't real since because it wasn't put to song on a TV show.

Conclusions

Persons with transsexualism, after sex reassignment, have considerably higher risks for mortality, suicidal behaviour, and psychiatric morbidity than the general population. Our findings suggest that sex reassignment, although alleviating gender dysphoria, may not suffice as treatment for transsexualism, and should inspire improved psychiatric and somatic care after sex reassignment for this patient group.

motives unclear, bwhahahaha

According to The Express, the gunman – who killed one person and wounded four other people in the shooting during the early morning hours of Sunday – was known to police in the area.

Witnesses reportedly described a mass shooting-style scene where the gunman seemed to choose victims at random.

The gunman didn’t just shoot patrons of the club. The gunman also reportedly shot at police, even injuring one of them and dying himself in the process.

genuinely shocked.

this I'm not shocked at: the Australian approach to dealing with Muslim terrorists

Bondi synagogue ban over terrorism risk leaves Jewish community shocked and furious

A LOCAL council has banned the construction of a synagogue in Bondi because it could be a terrorist target, in a shock move that religious leaders say has caved in to Islamic extremism and created a dangerous precedent.

I just wish someone would tell me how to feel about this Charlottesville thing. I've checked Facebook and Twitter, but nobody will just come out and say what they think.

How about "Let's all just stop being dicks who use violence and intimidation to suppress the speech and opinions of others, regardless of whether or how severely we disagree with them."

As I see it, a group of **** people got a legal permit to make asses of themselves in public and a lot of other **** people decided that they shouldn't be allowed to do so. Since the first group is known to hate everyone that is not like them and the second group doesn't believe in the First Amendment, the police were told to let them get at each other by politicians that want a talking point.

If you want to feel something about it, feel sorry for the cops that were killed when their chopper crashed.

I didn't think my comment needs the <sarcasm></sarcasm> tags, but I guess I was wrong.
