Scandinavia can keep their socialist democracies, or Democratic socialism, and social progressivism and Progressive socialism, and social nationalism and national socialism. Those people have fundamental historical and cultural differences to us. We have different values with regard to individual freedoms. We already have a set of rules by which we are allowed to conduct our government they provide for a government based on personal Liberty and freedom rather than socialism. Those other countries likely do not.

The more we expand our government and the more our policies reflect creeping socialism intertwining itself into the fabric of our system, the more problems we seem to create for ourselves. We have an entire subculture of useless individuals who don't use some of these programs as a safety net, but rather as a hammock. They have not fallen into the position where they lay. They have never made an attempt to ascend any further up from the fully dependent position into which they were born. And this is a conditioned response due to the rewards being given for this particular behavior. And I do not fault them personally for being useless but rather our politicians for incentivizing this behavior and allowing it to be taught and perpetuated for these several generations since the New Deal.

The New Deal most certainly infringes upon the constitutional rights of many Americans.

I prefer Liberty.

When's the last time you visited one of those countries? I think you'd be positively surprised.
Personally, about seven years ago. I found Groningen, in particular, to be an amazing place.

In addition to "more liberal policies," those countries also have an almost exclusively homogeneous population in terms of ethnicity, religion, language and culture. It's hard to have an "disadvantaged group" when everyone is already the same, and there's no need for government to force equality on the people by means of legislative action.

I find it interesting that you included The Netherlands in a list of otherwise Nordic countries. My experience, as an outsider, was that the Dutch seem to share more with their neighbors to the east from a linguistic / cultural standpoint than with the Finns or the Swedes.

I thought Norway and Sweden shared more linguistic traits between themselves than either with Finland. I believe Finland linguistically is closer to the Magyars.

Correct. I was referring to The Netherlands which, from my admittedly outsider perspective, appears to share little in common with the Nordic region as a whole aside from benefiting from a population is which almost completely homogeneous.

Dear Joe P,

NBC admits there is bias.

https://www.nbcnews.com/think/opinio...sts-ncna895471

Evan Siegfried Media bias against conservatives is real, and part of the reason no one trusts the news now

It might not be conscious, but the way that reporters treat conservatives in their coverage has always shown their liberal leanings

Members of the media were shocked as he was supposedly revealed as incredibly anti-woman presidential candidate, perhaps even the most ever nominated by a major political party in the modern era. He had admitted that he reduced women to objects and the Democrats pounced, seeking to make him lose him the support of women and, in turn, the presidency.

I'm not talking about the media coverage of GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump and the "Access Hollywood" tape, but his predecessor, Mitt Romney.

His sin? Saying that he had “binders full of women” that he was looking at appointing to key positions were he elected president. Sure, it was an awkward way of stating a fairly innocuous fact about how elected executives begin their transition efforts — with resumes of candidates for every position under the sun —- well before an election is held. Yet, the media and commentators came for Mitt Romney and they did so with guns blazing, as he was portrayed as an anti-woman extremist... for making a concerted effort to hire women to serve in his administration as governor of Massachusetts.

Yet, the media and commentators came for Mitt Romney and they did so with guns blazing, as he was portrayed as an anti-woman extremist… for making a concerted effort to hire women to serve in his administration as governor of Massachusetts.
Which blew up right in their faces.

Conservatives were rightly upset when at the end of Barack Obama’s presidency, the USA Today editorial board parroted, almost verbatim, a claim of the then president’s that his administration had been scandal-free. While this was done by the editorial board of a major newspaper, the line was repeated by many journalists, including by NBC News’ Tom Brokaw, despite Republican investigations into the IRS’s targeting of conservative groups, the investigation into the ATF’s Fast and Furious program and the investigation into the Obama Administration’s federal guarantees for Solyndra, among others.
Side note: to the left, “binders full of women” was worse than anything Obama and Holder engaged in.

And one can draw a straight line from the fawning Clinton coverage in the 1990s to the deeply suspicious manner with which George W. Bush and Dick Cheney were portrayed in the aughts to the media hyperventilation about Romney’s “binders full of women” all the way to Trump’s post-fact world. Each and every instance where the media engages in bias helped to chip away at the trust they once held; all conservatives ever did was point out the truth.
I’m not saying Trump doesn’t take things way too far the other way with his “the media is the enemy of the people” nonsense. That’s crazy talk that shouldn’t be accepted from any world leader. It’s even worse when you get the sense Trump doesn’t mean it, or fully understand what he’s saying. It’s just a catchphrase he knows his MAGA-sexual fanbois will go crazy for and throw their panties at him.

In all seriousness, though:

1: Bias is not the same as political agenda. Every human, by their very nature, has many biases. Personally, I am biased against people who own Hyundais, people who own pit-bulls, and people who think that socialism is inherently good, it just hasn't yet been done correctly.

2: I don't see anything in that article which tells me that NBC admitted to having a certain bias in its reporting.

It's an interesting assumption, and one that I really wouldn't want to put money on either way.

I predict that 2020 is going to be a landslide election, I just don't have a solid read on which direction.

trump is the best president in history... he already won 2020 -- i mean he is a fascist dictator after all.

Therapists say there's been a rise in anxiety stemming from the country's politics, and it is being called "Trump Anxiety Disorder."

A report from CBC News in Canada says that since President Trump was elected, mental health professionals in the United States have seen an increase in patients whose stress has come from politics.

A prevalent "symptom" of the "disorder" is feeling as though the world is going to end.

I want to know what manufacturing is being done in what looks to be oscoda county in northern michigan. A county which half of it is national forest, the other half is state forest...

I don't like that map.
