It's a completely legal strategy to eliminate or restructure debt for his different corporations, never a personal bankruptcy.

That's just using the rules to your own max benefit, not being dumb.
Do you even understand what you wrote? You do realize that a bankruptcy is not the same as a debt restructuring, right? And that "eliminating" debt through a bankruptcy is the same as just not paying the debt? Bankruptcy is to debt restructuring as Bill Cosby is to consensual sex. "She never objected, so..." Also, Trump's businesses are his personal affairs, with his own money, not independent entities under separate management and oversight. We totally agree that it's not dumb. It's just immoral, unethical, and abusive of laws and business norms.

Braineack, I'm starting to get the impression that you don't like liberals. Have you ever actually met one? You can post all the straw-man pics and videos you want, but nobody I know on that side of the debate speaks or acts that way.

But the Trump Organization has no interests in Russia. No hotels, no golf courses, no resorts, no office buildings, no land-holdings. And so it just doesn't make sense for them to get mobbed up there, because the mob would have nothing to offer them in return.

It's just not good business.
It's worth noting that Putin and the Russian mob have the vast majority of their money held outside of Russia, mainly due to a lack of economic stability. To accomplish this, they need collaborators in other countries who are willing to play certain roles. One could argue that domestic business people within Russia are actually far less valuable to the Russians than those in other countries, especially the US. Ask yourself: if you had billions of dollars of ill-gotten money that you were trying to keep safe, where in the world would you put it? Then ask yourself: when people have giant piles of cash to safeguard in the U.S., where do they usually put it?

It's interesting you ask this, because a non-profit agency known as the Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (which is an umbrella organization consisting of various investigative centers, journalists, and news agencies) actually looked into that exact question, specifically with regard to Russia.

https://www.occrp.org/en/laundromat/...romat-exposed/

It turns out that if the question is "Where do Russian criminal syndicates put their money?" the answer turns out to be "Mostly Asia and Europe."

I've highlighted in blue the square which represents the US. It's so small that the name doesn't fit in it:

Maybe.

Chapter 11 Bankruptcy : Reorganization

Chapter 11 Bankruptcy primarily applies to commercial enterprises that wish to continue business operations while repaying creditors through a court-approved reorganization plan.

Under Chapter 11 Bankruptcy, the debtor has the right to file a plan of reorganization within 120 days after the order for relief. The debtor must provide creditors with a disclosure statement that allows the creditors to evaluate the plan, although whether the plan is approved is ultimately the Court's decision.

The debtor has a number of options under Chapter 11 for returning the business to profitability. These options include reducing debts by repaying a portion of them while discharging others, discharging burdensome contracts and leases, and rescaling operations of the business. Upon completion of the plan, the debtor usually has undergone a period of consolidation and emerges with a reduced debt load and a reorganized, and more profitable, busines

It's really pretty obvious if you think about it. All of the big squares on that chart are all countries which either have extremely lax financial regulation or fairly strong banking-privacy laws.

By comparison, the US has neither of these things. We're loaded with oversight and regulation and disclosure rules, and the Fed routinely seizes assets in civil-forfeiture proceedings.

The US (and US-based companies) are an extremely poor choice when it comes to harboring illicit funds.

Residents of a rapidly gentrifying enclave of Los Angeles tried to shut down the grand opening of a new coffee shop, saying the owner’s support of President Donald Trump’s stance on immigrants is reason alone to want him out of the neighborhood.

On Thursday, protesters held signs and screamed at patrons in front of Asher Caffe & Lounge located at 945 S. Boyle Ave. in Boyle Heights, a traditionally Jewish neighborhood that is now predominately Latino. They say they oppose the cafe and the owner over his support of Trump’s immigration policies.

...

“It was very scary,” said Shalom’s daughter Yael. “There was a lot of people protesting outside wearing masks […] and they threw a significant amount of feces at our windows.”

he must have enjoyed the parts where the government and private industry collude in order to keep a single individual from advancing.

There's a big difference: I don't believe anyone actually cares what I say.

We don't, mostly because we believe you're an intentional troll, not a self-believing troll. <3

Make Gorillas Great Again:

this is from my "isidewith" from 2016 before the election, I always plot between libertarian and conservative because I love a good facist.

Out of curiosity, I did that "isidewith" test. It reaffirmed what I already knew, that I think everyone is full of **** when they start talking partisan politics. Looks like the two candidates that mostly closely share my political views are Trump and Oprah.

I took the quiz.

It told me what I already knew.
