Bernie is a millionaire himself.
MARTHA: So would you be willing to pay 52% on the money that you made? You can volunteer, you can send it back.
BELLIGERENT OLD MAN: You can volunteer too…why don’t you give? You make more money than I do.
MARTHA: I didn’t suggest a wealth tax.
BRETT: And she’s not running for POTUS.

So where’s the outrage for the pressure that we put on a seventeen-year-old to borrow $100,000? So much of that pressure comes from their mom and dad; it’s well-intended, but it’s kind of tragic. And where’s the outrage for the guidance counselors, who continually say the best path for the most people just happens to be the most expensive. And the politicians and the lobbyists who exacerbate the same myth and the employers who still insist on only interviewing people with a four-year degree.
So, college is expensive because we’ve freed up an unlimited pile of free money and told an entire generation they were doomed to fail if they didn’t borrow it, and that’s happened in every single tax bracket, not just the top one.

I'd not previously heard the phrase "Islamic Economics."
Having done a brief amount of research, the fundamental concepts seem very similar to Judeo-Christian economics as described in the old testament of the Christian bible (and, presumably, the Tanakh as well, although I haven't comprehensively researched this.)

BANGKOK (AP) — A dog found swimming more than 220 kilometers (135 miles) from shore by workers on an oil rig crew in the Gulf of Thailand has been returned safely to land.
A worker on the rig belonging to Chevron Thailand Exploration and Production, Vitisak Payalaw, said on his Facebook page that they saw the dog swimming toward the platform last Friday. He said they were lucky to spot it because if there had been waves it probably would not have been visible.
The dog made it to the platform, clinging to the support structure below deck without barking or whimpering, Vitisak wrote.
The crew managed to lower a rope and secure it around the dog’s neck and haul it up. Vitisak said they speculated the dog might have fallen off a fishing trawler, and dubbed it Boon Rod, or Survivor.
(Vitisak Payalaw via AP)The dog was delivered by boat to the southern port of Songkhla on Monday and was declared in good shape after being taken to the animal protection group Watchdog Thailand.
Vitisak said if the dog was unclaimed, he would like to take it to his home in northeast Thailand.

Two families move from Pakistan to America . When they arrive the two fathers make a bet to see -- in a year's time -- which family has become more Americanized. A year laterThe first man says, 'My son is playing baseball. I had breakfast at McDonalds, and I'm on my way to pick up a case of Bud. How about you?'
The second man replies:
"**** you, towel head!"
Just thought some here would appreciate this one.

meanwhile in hollywood:
“If CNN is in this house, you need to take a lesson from her. This is what you call a real town hall meeting,” the guy said. “All that mess that CNN be doing is all fake. They already got people out in the audience already picked who they want to ask a question. It ain’t going down like that here, so CNN need to take a lesson of this.”

The New York Press announced Jim Acosta as the recipient of their “Truth to Power” award Friday. The award is intended to honor “an individual whose body of work challenges the power establishment and/or defends journalists.”
“We are proud to honor a man such as Jim Acosta, who has proven himself throughout his storied, decades-long career to be a journalist of the utmost integrity, ” Jane Tillman Irving, president of the Press Club, said in the release, which was first reported by The Wrap. “For his unwavering commitment to fact and journalism, we are pleased to add to Jim’s many accolades with the Gabe Pressman ‘Truth to Power’ award.”

In Washington, D.C., city housing officials “increased the value of rental subsidies” in order to “give tenants who had previously clustered in impoverished, high-crime areas east of the Anacostia River a shot at living in more desirable neighborhoods,” The Washington Post reported.
While government officials no doubt spent the next two years after this change was made bragging about the number of low-income individuals now living in a better neighborhood, the policy had predictably adverse effects.
At Sedgwick Gardens, an upscale apartment complex in Cleveland Park, “Many of the new tenants are previously homeless men and women who came directly from shelters or the streets, some still struggling with severe behavioral problems,” the Post reported.
This caused issues. The Post reported that police visits to Sedgwick “have nearly quadrupled since 2016,” causing some tenants to move out. After resident complaints, social workers were dispatched to the building to handle issues at night.
There are three basic complaints from residents at Sedgwick: Those who received city vouchers to live in the complex that say they feel unwelcome by their more affluent neighbors, the affluent neighbors who support the program but insist the building’s use of the vouchers was mismanaged, and those who think the program was implemented too hastily.
“It’s not about the voucher program. It’s not about racism. It’s about people’s conduct and behavior,” Lorraine Starkes, a former homeless woman who was able to move into Sedgwick, told the Post.
Starkes told the outlet that many of her fellow voucher residents weren’t properly screened and “are trying to turn [Sedgwick] into a ghetto.”
And there is the problem with policies like this. Giving someone a better place to live doesn’t automatically improve their lives. For some, like Starkes, it can make a difference, but other people need specialized help for mental illness or other disabilities that a nice apartment can’t fix. As the Post reported:
City officials, naturally, told the Post that Sedgwick was not the result of mismanagement.

That approach calls for placing the homeless in long-term housing without first requiring treatment for mental illness or addiction. Many experts say it is the best way to help people who have trouble helping themselves amid the chaos of homelessness.
But as housing first has emerged as a national policy consensus, some have begun to warn that it is being applied too broadly and at times with inadequate support for people who aren’t ready for the independence and responsibilities of living by themselves.

"The project was a video of her narrating from the future about how she saved the world by narrating videos from the future about saving the world" - Ben Shapiro
This is beyond parody. Shapiro isn't telling fibs with his summary of AOC's "project". I for one am excited to hear about the part where cows are forced to fart less, planes are banned, people who dont like working get money from the government, and how this plan eventually lead to the destruction of the US economy.
But hey, I'm sure a glass of water couldn't participate in a video like this.

I loved Barr’s response to some reporterette who asked why he called President Trump’s situation at the beginning of his presidency, with him, his family, and associates under intense scrutiny and investigation “unprecedented.”
Reporter: “Why do you say that is unprecedented?”
Barr: “Has it happened before?”
Reporter: “No.”
Barr: “Then it’s unprecedented.”
