Neg cat for Comic Sans.

Haha.

It's often observed that there is a great need for a [sarcasm] tag on the Internet. I find Comic Sans to be the most appropriate approximation.

Realistically speaking, though:

This business of allowing convicted felons to vote is a distraction. They are an insignificantly minuscule percentage of the electorate.

I'm much more concerned about allowing non-convicts who believe in the delusion of "Free everything for everyone" to vote. In fact, I'd gladly give every convicted murderer, terrorist, and sex-offender a 10x vote in exchange for disallowing non-convicted citizens who are a net drain on our society and economy from voting.

How much trouble would I get in for saying that if you're and American that's taxed that you should be able to vote...If you're a drain on society, piss off.

That's been my position for years.

I think I get what you are saying but aren't convicts in fact a net drain on our society and economy?

The problem is when you add up the felons, dead people and non-citizens that are voting, and combine them with those that are fraudulently voting in more than one location it's no longer an insignificant percentage.

Voting should be in-person, with a picture ID that requires verified citizenship to procure. Penalties for defrauding the system and voting illegally should be swift and harsh.

Though I like the idea of net non-contributors being disallowed the vote, that will likely never happen.

I particularly like how Mexico is represented what's greater prominence e than most states.

The nearsightedness of so much of the general public with regard to policy-making is why we don't have a democracy. Without a constitutional representative Republic we would have been lost already. And we may yet be.

Black people can't say racist things about white people on fb and USA today writes a long article about why that's racist.

Honkkk

Facebook while black: Users call it getting 'Zucked,' say talking about racism is censored as hate speech

Good point. Even as cheap as OK is, I think the avg cost to house a prisoner is something like $32k per year. Or roughly 5x the avg spent per pupil in public education.

California is roughly $82k per year. NYC is north of $170k per year per prisoner.

The latest number I could find shows that the US, as a whole, spends nearly $80 Billion per year locking up criminals in this country.

Don't get me started on felon-izing minor offenses, the right of the prosecution to subvert exculpatory evidence, the mere presence of mandatory minimums, juries not being allowed to know pertinent information regarding the case and possible sentencing guidelines, the legal right of the prosecution to lie directly to the jury, and the structure that has been created that causes over 90% of criminal cases to be pled rather than fairly judged by a jury of peers. And so much more.

While I agree with you on the whole, I'm curious as to how you'd define "lie" in this context, and whether you'd also prefer that the defense be subjected to the same standard.
