Mortal Kombat 11 Takes Shots At Donald Trump With Shao Khan Reference

This week, NetherRealm Studios and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment released Mortal Kombat 11 onto the PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch. And the launch has been successful, both commercially and critically. However, it's also had its fair share of controversy. Before launch, it was fans complaining about certain fighters missing and the designs of the game's female fighters. And since it launched on Tuesday, some have slammed the game for "political agendas" and a "racist" ending. There's also been pitchforking about the game's progression and microtransactions. All of this is to say, it's been an odd launch for the fighting game, punctuated lots of controversy.

And if you thought the game was beyond the controversy, well, not yet. In the game, NetherRealm Studios seemingly takes a jab at president of the United States, Donald Trump, with a Shao Khan voice line. More specifically, there's a scene where big baddie Shao Khan, talking to newcomer and the equally villainous Kollector, goes "let us make Outworld great again," which undoubtedly is a reference to Donald Trump's "Make America Great Again" campaign slogan. Now, are NetherRealm Studios suggesting Donald Trump is Shao Khan? And are they suggesting his version of America is Outworld? I don't know, some seem to think so. Others think it's just a joke.

Mortal Kombat has a long history of controversy thanks to its over-the-top violence, but it rarely is ever causing hooplah with political commentary.

I'm calling it now. Biden 2020. He's a moderate democrat with a proven track record and name-recognition, who can hang his hat on the reputation of one of the more popular* presidents of recent history. Everyone knows who he is, but nobody can think of anything outrageous / stupid / felonious that he has done or been accused of

Assuming he isn't accused of rape between now and then, and manages to win the primary (which, I will admit, is not assured given Sanders' frighteningly decent performance against Her in 2016), he will win the general by virtue of not being Donald Trump.

* = Regardless of his policies, Obama had a nice face, a pleasant demeanor, didn't start** any foreign wars, and served two terms.

** = Start, not continue.

The whole bussing/desegregation will likely get exactly ZERO play in the media.

I find it amusing when the left did something bad in their past, they have learned from it.
If someone on the right did something bad in their past, that's just who they are as a person.

Personally I don't think the bussing thing is a big deal--It was not popular then, and his explanation is completely understandable.

That said, his track record sucks. He tied himself to that clean, articulate President who identifies as black.

The Democrat party of today--right now--is pushing the following:

POST birth abortion
regulating cow farts
banning hot dogs
allowing terrorists/rapists/murderers to vote
taking away your medical options
ceasing the use of fossil fuels
removing the 2nd Amendment

offering LOTS of free stuff without having a realistic way of paying for it

My problem is that I simply don't know how I woke up in this alternate universe, and I'd like to figure out how to get back to reality.

"Biden should get back to his actual job, which is being the third guy in a car on a Sonic commercial," said Miller. "You know, for years I've been hearing about what a genius Joe Biden is, and to me, he is one of those big glad-handing doofuses who went into the bubble when he was 29."

"He's 75, and now every time I see him, he's saying, 'I’m drawn to this reluctantly, but I have to help,'" Miller continued. "And Joe, if you're out there and you watch Ben and, you know, probably you do, I want to tell you… stop helping me. I let you free, go out and help yourself! At age 75...to me, he's more unhinged and shakier than a rescue dog in Phil Spector's house. And when they always act like he's avuncular I think, 'I guess I'm missing that.' Because to me, he is the sort of guy who looks like he thinks bottled water tastes better after you shake it."

gotta spread that wealth around:

Biden, who entered the Democratic primary contest on Thursday among its frontrunners, received 107,431 online donations from 96,926 individual donors across 50 states, with an average contribution size of $41, his campaign said.

The massive fundraising haul surpassed the previous record set by former Rep. Beto O’Rourke (D-Texas), who raked in $6.1 million in the first 24 hours after announcing his presidential bid last month. Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) also raised $5.9 million in the first 24 hours of his campaign launch in February.

  • The number of women who own a gun is rising -- an estimated one in five women in 2017 -- and the firearms industry is taking notice.
  • The new generation of firearms for females are not just pink, but designed for a woman's frame to be lighter, slimmer and have less recoil for women with license to carry.
  • It's not just firearms, but also apparel and accessories called "carrywear," including leggings, purses and holsters that women want customized to their needs.

gotta protect yourself from violent democratic voters.

To fight K-pop’s influence in China, a club teaches young boys to be alpha males

It is 14 degrees the morning two dozen boys gather at a Beijing park to be transformed into alpha males. A reluctant winter sun casts silver light between treacherously cold shadows. The wind bites, worsening nerves as the boys — the youngest 7 — prepare to strip to their waists for a run.
One of the watching mothers is worried. She wants her son to grow into a macho male, but it’s so cold. She tells him he can keep his shirt on, or perhaps skip the run through Olympic Forest Park.

Not intending at all to give a busy man like yourself a homework assignment but rather to genuinely hear your opinions if you (or anyone else) are interested. I was fascinated.

Listened yesterday while downtown.

I can't say that I learned anything startling or new. The content seemed mostly to consist of:

• Mandatory minimum sentences are a tool which aid prosecutors in moving criminals efficiently through the court system, by allowing them to offer pleas to lesser charges, thus avoiding the cost of a jury trial.
• The likelihood of being caught is of greater significance than the severity of the resulting punishment in the "shall I commit this crime?" decision-making process.
• Police officers are incentivized to make arrests and testify in court.
• Jail sucks.

I didn't hear anything at all about charges or evidence being fabricated to implicate innocent people. And while I acknowledge that this does happen, I maintain that it is exceedingly rare in practice. And such cases typically do go to trial, and thus gain public attention, which differentiates them from the vast majority of cases in which the defendant is in fact guilty of the charge (or something very much like it.)

Ditto the frequency with which people who are truly innocent are arrested and subjected to pre-trial detention but then later released without charge. Again, exceedingly rare.

Again, I'll fully agree that many people are incarcerated for things which ought not to be crimes, or at least felonies punishable by imprisonment. The old "No victim? No crime." school of thought.

But that's a legislative problem, not one for the police or the courts*. Things get labeled as crimes when elected officials in the relevant cabinet pass bills saying that they are.

* = Not one for trial courts. This podcast did not really delve into the appellate courts, which is where unjust laws get nullified.

My point is this: The conversation we were having was about the conduct of prosecutors in court, and I didn't hear anything which addressed that. The whole podcast was about issues in the lawmaking process, which is well upstream of the courts.

ALEXANDRIA OCASIO-CORTEZ COULD NOT BE MORE WRONG ABOUT THE MIDDLE CLASS
By Kevin Ryan

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has claims that “[The] upper middle class does not exist anymore in America,” saying de-regulation of Wall Street and rising income inequality destroyed the upper middle class.

And it’s not just Ocasio-Cortez who believes the middle class is suffering. Fellow socialist Bernie Sanders has made the same claim. Indeed most politicians, including populists, have bought into the idea.

But the truth is the exact opposite. The middle class IS shrinking, but only because the are becoming richer.

The poor, the lower middle class, and the middle class have all shrunk as a percentage of the U.S. population…

…because they’ve become wealthier.

The upper middle class and the wealthy are the fastest growing segments of the America population.

Since 1979:

• The percent of households categorized as poor (households earning less than $30,000, adjusted for inflation and family size), has fallen by 4.8 percentage points.

• The lower middle class (incomes between $30k and $50k) has decreased in size by 6.8 percentage points.

• The middle class (incomes between $50k and $100k) has also shrunk by 6.8 percentage points.

• The number of upper middle class families ($100k to $350k) has grown by 16.5 percentage points, making it the fastest growing segment of the population.

• And the number of rich in America (incomes greater than $350k) have grown by 1.7 percentage points.

That’s precisely the opposite of Ocasio-Cortez’s and socialists’ claims.
