I don't watch that show. But I do find it interesting we've gone from wanting women to have access to powerful positions to being treated completely equally to men to needing to be completely dominant and absent of men in power. In television shows and commercials men are consistently written as buffoons who cannot survive without the wisdom of women guiding and correcting every move.

The more we try to crush them, the more brazen and disobedient they become. Is it too late? Are these people irredeemable? Perhaps we have been too soft on them by simply shutting down their funding, access to social media and their very right to appear in public without being pelted by rotten food and liquids.

It is time to admit that the only way we can truly win against the far-right is to kill them.

Then, and only then, will we be truly free from their hate.

not the onion...

I'm still catching up on Anthony Bourdain's No Reservations, and probably won't watch GOT, as I was never into the whole D&D / LOTR / Hobbit thing even was I was a nerdy teenager.

But I did chuckle a tad when I saw the meme about the women lamenting that she had wasted a decade of her life watching a white male narrative. I wonder if she has ever heard the name George R. R. Martin?

Anyway, back to politics:

I find it interesting that the Socialist idea of dealing with any individuals that disagree with them is always murder. From the national socialists of Germany to the Communist socialists of Russia, China, and Cambodia, to the leftist dictatorial regimes throughout Africa, to the Progressive socialists and Democratic socialists from Woodrow Wilson forward. I see the single common thread of devaluation of the liberty of the individual at their core. The ***** separated people from each other by race, the Communists by class, the progressives by fragmenting people into whatever group they could possibly segregate them into out of convenience. Once you separate a group you label them and demonize them and then work on dehumanizing them so that slaughtering them wholesale means nothing to you morally. Make no mistake, they do intend to forcibly control the entirety of our population and kill the ones they cannot control. It is becoming more obvious everyday that this is indeed the end game. The vocal among them are not keeping it a secret.

Pay attention. The ones who are running around claiming everyone else is a **** are actually the real ***** in form if not in name. Walks like a duck and quacks like a duck.

Replying to Six. And our present U.S. business culture is often dictated by left-leaning upper management. Their form of murder is firing, or by other means, "running off" those that do not hold to the party line. Management by dictum and cliche, rather than by hard facts.

Kind of a microcosm of the USSR.

As a member of upper (from a local perspective) and middle (from a corporate perspective) management, I find this perspective... curious.

I'm the one who translates dictums from corporate management into reality on the ground. And I can honestly say that in my five years with this company, I have never been issued a directive to fire people based on their "party line" compliance. Actually, I've never been issued a directive to fire anyone at all.

I actually very strongly dislike hiring / firing stuff. In fact, I have one guy in our maintenance division who is just utterly dead weight. He's union, so it's a process. And while in theory I have been working that process for a while, I'll admit that my heart just isn't in it, because he's an old guy with a family, and I really don't want to **** him over.

Here on the forum, things are easy. The slightest hint of being a douchebag and I'll perma-ban your ***.

In the real world, things are different. Believe it or not, those of us who make those decisions actually feel empathy.

I'm going to suggest that feeling empathy makes you less likely to be a murderer.

Joe, I sincerely hope I am making gross generalizations from local observations.

This confuses me. I'm from the Netherlands, a country that would be considered to be very left compared the US, policy-wise. E.g. mandatory socialized healthcare, mandatory government retirement funds, guns outlawed, very progressive taxes, etc. Basically, a republican's nightmare and AOC's wet dream. All of this goes hand in hand with very strong worker employment protection legislation. A forced dismissal has to be petitioned at the courts or the government. It seems to me that there are ******** in your environment, and those ******** happen to be left-leaning. Correlation does not imply causation.

Speaking of murders, I find it funny that people associate murders with the left, yet the Netherlands has 10 times less homicides per capita than the US.

True story:

I was actually very nearly murdered (or, at least, robbed at knifepoint) this past Saturday. It turns out that the people you encounter on West Monroe St in downtown Chicago at 3:30am are, in fact, every bit as sketchy as the stereotypes would lead you to believe.

Based on my very limited sample size (n=1), knife-wielding thugs in Chicago are not sufficiently brave to continue an assault after the intended victim produces a folding knife of his own. (Yes, it was part of a Gerber multi-tool.)

Hope you are OK! You must be pretty shaken up. I'll try to remember to wear a multi tool on me the next time I'm in Chicago

Scamba. I like the correlation \= causation. I’ll back off on that.

I was a tad at the time.

Then I got down into the Blue Line station, and there was a crazy guy running in circles around a column and shouting at the ceiling, and I remembered that this is just normal life. So I put my headphones on and listened to a podcast.
