Why are we panicked about coronavirus — and calm about the flu?

Although the flu has killed 10,000 Americans already this season and no Americans have died of the coronavirus, there’s a psychological reason we fear the new virus more.

The President provides a check on Congress by having veto power over legislation.

The congress also provides a check on the President, by having to approve many of his actions.

The Supreme Court provides a check on both Congress and the President.

It's a well-designed system. The only major flaw in it is the voters.

It wasn't as big a flaw until the 17th Amendment to The Constitution. Senators were appointed by the state legislatures prior to then. Senators were beholden to the state legislatures and representatives were beholden to the people. This meant there was a separation in constuituency there as well. Now it is mob rule.

No human-to-human transmission, no travel bans, but plenty of praise for Beijing: How WHO parroted Chinese lies as coronavirus pandemic unfolded

  • The WHO first reported unusual cases of pneumonia in Wuhan on January 4
  • Since then, coronavirus has evolved into the worst pandemic for 100 years
  • WHO is now facing criticism for its handling of the pandemic, including that it was too quick to accept Chinese data and too slow to recommend travel bans
  • Donald Trump has said he will withhold US funding until review is carried out
  • Learn more about how to help people impacted by COVID

I assume you intended this line to also cover Congress ability to override the president, assuming you could actually get them to agree on something.

I meant to imply that "approve" referred both to formal confirmations as well as to not overriding Executive Orders by de-funding them, or by creating new Federal Law which contradicts them.

Technically, Congress cannot directly nullify an Executive Order, although whatever Courts have relevant jurisdiction, including the Supreme Court, can.

Lots of checks and balances.

Congress can override a presidential veto is what I meant not the power to overrule an executive order. Carry on.

Small-business loan program just hit its $350 billion cap and is now out of money

The emergency fund offered a lifeline to small businesses who have been shuttered, or forced to lay off or furlough employees due to the coronavirus.
Hopefully we can get that $5billion to Iran soon...

Playing 4D when your opponents playing 1D. Trump says "im ulimate god warrior" and everyone freaks out, so then he unleashes his plan putting 100% of blame on the governors.

2) The Current guidelines will stay in effect till May 1st
