But these people are acting like the 1st Amendment doesn't exist. Since when was physical violence the correct solution (by a so-called liberal, none the less) to someone else freely exercising their constitutionally-protected rights? It's like they don't realize that the same laws which guarantee their right to hold and express political opinions which some people might disagree with also apply to Mr. Skinhead.
I seriously don't understand these people.

The first amendment protects people from the STATE. It does not protect them from other people disagreeing (sometimes strongly, with a fist) with them.
As I tell people, the first amendment means they can say what they want without being arrested. It does not mean they can say what they want without consequence from the people around them.

Other commentators were calling upon the faculty of the University to "shut down" Mr. Skinhead. (eg: abridge his right to political expression.) Since the University of Florida is a public university, funded by state and federal treasuries, the conduct of its officers falls under the limitations of the First Amendment.
That said, I completely agree that "first amendment" gets tossed around a lot, often in the context of behavior by corporations or individuals. If, for instance, I post something horribly offensive on social media, and am identifiable as an employee of Tribune Media, then Tribune has every right to tell me to cut it out or face termination.
Likewise, I have no problem at all if other people want to rally around Mr. Skinhead, call him names, insult him, insinuate that his parents were brother and sister (or a Jew and a Gypsy, or whatever), etc. I draw the line, however, at calling for physical violence against him.
The subtlety of this distinction seems to have been lost upon a group who seem unable to distinguish between "speech" and "assault" or "rape" when it comes to things which they find personally offensive.
I'm sure the same people that were barricading white people from entering colleges, or blocking people from attending the inauguration are the same protesting the strengthen of our border.
It's almost like the left isn't as morally superior as they make themselves out to be.
