Vineland, NJ — A graphic new video has emerged capturing the brutal murder of New Jersey man, Phillip White, by Vineland police. As we reported earlier this week, White died in custody late Tuesday morning after police let a K-9 maul the handcuffed man as they beat him into the ground.

The video gives a clear and disturbing view of the 32-year-old’s final moments, as well as an attempt by one officer to confiscate the evidence of the murder.

Upon realizing the incident was being filmed, the officer approached the man recording and asked,

“Did you see what happened over here? All of it?”

When the man confirmed that he did, the officer demanded his information and attempted to confiscate the footage.

A top-ranking law enforcement official, not connected to the investigation, was deeply disturbed by the actions of the officers involved. He commented anonymously, saying officers should have called off the dog immediately after bringing White under control. Furthermore, the expert said the officer demanding the recording of the event had no right to do so.

An independent investigation is being launched by White’s family attorney, Conrad Benedetto, who stated, “There are great concerns about the circumstances that surround this death.”

After declining to comment on the initial video released, Vineland police have thus far ignored calls seeking a response on this footage of the incident.

The video shows an officer repeatedly slamming the hoop into the street as another officer watches.

A man who identified himself as the owner of the hoop, Noe Silva, on Friday told NBC 5 that he and his buddies often play in the street by his home, and have previously been told to put the hoop away by police. Though he and his pals always obliged, Silva said, the officer on Thursday grabbed the hoop from the street before slamming it and breaking it, NBC 5 reported.

“I’m shocked you know, why did he do that?” Silva said. “He could have told us, ‘Hey, put it away, put it inside, we don’t want you playing out here.’ ”


He told NBC that he later found the hoop in a dumpster and plans to keep playing.

Ald. Ricardo Munoz told the station the block has been “problematic” because there’ s a lot of loitering there, but he thinks the officers might have overstepped.

“We should have gotten rid of the basketball hoop, I just believe the officer crossed the line by destroying it,” he said.

The police department issued a statement that said it is investigating the incident and is “committed to community policing fostering stronger relationships based on trust and understanding.”

“Plain and simple, if you f— with me, I’m going to break your legs before you get the chance to run. I’m being honest I don’t screw around,” the officer said.

Mohamed’s friend said in return, “I never said I was going to run.”

“I’m just giving you a heads up. Just trying to be officer friendly right now,” the officer said.

Eventually, as other, less vile officers arrived, the teens were told they were suspected of stealing the car they were in. No one was arrested, however, the teens were held on the roadside for 45 minutes in handcuffs. While the teens were being held captive, their vehicle was torn apart in an attempt to justify the harassment.

According to the Minneapolis Police Department, the incident is under investigation.

A 73-year-old reserve deputy grabbed his gun thinking it was his Taser and shot and killed a suspect during an altercation, the Tulsa County Sheriff’s Office said Friday.

Officials still are investigating the shooting between deputy Robert Bates and Eric Courtney Harris who was killed Thursday in the fight.

Officials said their preliminary investigation showed Bates thought he had what he believed was the Taser from his tactical carrier. TCSO said he believed he was using the Taser when he inadvertently discharged his service weapon, firing one round which struck Harris.

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Four officers are no longer employed by the Norfolk Police Department (NPD) after an internal review of a Norfolk State University student’s January arrest.

Police Chief Michael Goldsmith released a statement Friday evening after finishing his review of London Colvin’s arrest, during which she was attacked by a police K-9. The K-9 officer is one of the four who are now unemployed. A fifth officer has been suspended for several days.

“Their actions do not represent the values of my department,” Goldsmith said in the release. “We have a great police department filled with men and women who work hard in this community everyday. We must hold ourselves to high standards and embrace opportunities to strengthen our relationship with the people we serve.”

A wrongfully arrested deaf and homeless man is suing the Arlington County Sheriff for violating his rights under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Abreham Zemedagegehu, a US citizen who was born in Ethiopia, went to Reagan National Airport seeking a warm place to sleep on the night of February 2, 2014. He was quickly arrested without explanation and taken to Arlington County Jail. Zemedagegehu has almost no English skills, but he is able to communicate in writing that he is fluent in American Sign Language (ASL) and needs an interpreter.

Police ignored these written requests, and it was not until his first court appearance two days later that he learned he was accused of stealing an iPad. Although the owner of the iPad contacted authorities shortly thereafter to tell them he had actually found the device, prosecutors withheld that information and forced Zemedagegehu to spend six weeks in jail, essentially incommunicado, until he confessed. A judge refused to overturn the wrongful conviction, and accused the public defender of taking too long to file his appeal.

Although a spokesperson told the Associated Press that the jail has several staff members fluent in ASL, she did not explain why it refused to supply them. Lawyers for the jail have argued that providing interpreters would cost extra resources and raise security concerns, and therefore is not a requirement...

A Miami-Dade police officer was arrested Thursday after federal prosecutors say he wrote up fake police reports on nonexistent identity thefts, in order to help credit repair companies scrub their customers' credit histories clean in exchange for kickbacks.

Rafael Duran, 43, of Miami, appeared in court Thursday after being indicted and arrested on fraud charges over the alleged scheme. He is set to be arraigned April 16 and could face up to 20 years in prison if convicted.

The City of Vermilion must pay $137,500 to a Florence Township man who was arrested — then fully acquitted — of public indecency outside Sailorway Middle School in 2012.

The man's attorney argued police did not have enough probable cause to charge his client in the first place, but also alleged an officer fabricated evidence in order to bolster his case.

During McCauley's trial, Detective Mayer took the stand and ultimately revealed several inconsistencies between his investigative police reports and the exact statements the boy made while being interviewed, court documents stated.

While Mayer was being cross-examined, he admitted that the child's interview had been audio-recorded. That recording was “previously unknown to the judicial officer issuing the arrest warrant, the prosecutor and Mr. McCauley’s criminal defense attorney,” documents stated.

And, according to Gerhardstein, that recording was pivotal in showing Mayer had erroneously represented the boy's statements in order to build a stronger case against McCauley.

Among the alleged misrepresentations:

•As heard on the audio, the boy described the suspect as driving a “grayish-gold” color vehicle. In Mayer's report, the detective stated that the boy described the vehicle as “grayish-white.”

•As heard on the audio, the boy said the suspect was wearing a gray hat, had a gray beard, and had liver spots on his skin. Mayer's report stated the boy described him as wearing a white hat and having a white beard. The report made no mention of liver spots. McCauley has no liver spots.

•In his report, Mayer explained that the boy did not correctly identify McCauley as the suspect during a photo line-up (The boy said he was 70% sure he recognized the man, but pointed to a completely different person). The report further stated: “The car that the subject was sitting in was backed in and (the boy) would have walked up from behind, so it is possible that he did not get a good look at the suspect’s face.” But according to the audio interview, the boy made no such statement. Rather, he said the man “looked directly at me.”

As an apparent result of Mayer's inconsistencies, McCauley was acquitted of the indecency charge at trial.

For months, he says, the NYPD — and others apparently connected to the police department — have been taking up all of the available parking spots on the street near Earth Enterprise, Hort's 100-year-old midtown printing business. His vendors are unable deliver the supplies he needs, and his own trucks have been exiled from the block, forced to double-park or simply circle the block, near Eighth Avenue and 36th Street.

The cars that are giving him trouble aren't police cruisers or other marked vehicles, but personal cars of members of the NYPD (and, in some cases, their families) as well as retired cops. And Hort says he would understand if the vehicles — almost uniformly parked without paying for metered parking, or with all manner of infractions, like in front of fire hydrants or in clearly marked "no standing" zones — displayed a valid police placard, which allows cops on official business to park where they need to without fear of a summons. But instead there are handwritten notes, reflective NYPD vests, badges that read "family of NYPD," and, in some cases, just a copy of the NYPD patrol manual sitting on the dash. Fed up, Hort decided to start documenting what he saw.

He also went to the parking enforcement officers in the neighborhood, asking why cars without the proper permits weren't being ticketed, but they ignored him.
