No Charges for Hialeah Police Officer in Dead K-9s Case | NBC 6 South Florida

A Hialeah Police officer whose K-9 partners died after they were left in his patrol vehicle won't face charges, the Broward State Attorney's Office announced Tuesday.

According to investigators, Officer Nelson Enriquez had just finished an overnight shift when he parked his marked police vehicle outside his Davie home on May 27. He later realized that he left the dogs inside the vehicle, but it was too late.

"Jimmy," a 7-year-old Bloodhound, and "Hector," a 4-year-old Belgium Malinois, were found dead.

Enriquez, a 13-year veteran of the department who has been a K-9 handler for the past seven years, was placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.

Court documents showed Enriquez was called back into work after the overnight shift to search for a missing child. When he went home later in the day, he left the dogs inside the vehicle and went to sleep. He woke up a couple hours later and made the tragic discovery.

Necropsies showed the dogs died of hyperthermia, or overheating, the documents said.

Texas County Refuses To Hire Cops Who Aren't 'Baptist Christians' - Counter Current News

A Texas county is finally being exposed for refusing to hire Muslims, Jews or even people of the “wrong” Christian denomination as peace officers.

The discriminatory hiring practices of the Williamson County Precinct 3 Constable’s Office had, until a ruling by a Texas judge last week, prohibited any applicants who were not “Baptist Christians” from being hired.

The judge in the case ruled last week that the case against Williamson County should go forward. That decision was made after it was revealed that a job applicant exposed the county for having a religious test for constable jobs.

“I was shocked,” Robert Lloyd said, at a press conference. “I was sick to my stomach when I left because I had never believed that things like this in government would go on.”

Lloyd explained that Williamson County required him to reveal his views on marriage, abortion as well as what religion he practiced and denomination, during a job interview for the job of peace officer at the Williamson County Precinct 3 Constable’s Office, back in 2013, according to KVUE.

KVUE also obtained a video deposition of Williamson County Commissioner Lisa Birkman as well as other commissioners acknowledging that these questions were asked to applicants.

“I asked a question on their view on gay marriage to all the applicants for Precinct 3 Constable and their view on abortion,” Birkman admits in her deposition.

TBI investigating Henry County infant's death | WBBJTV West Tennessee's News Channel | Local News

A 3-month-old infant's death is being investigated by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.

Officials said this comes at the request of District Attorney Matt Stowe.

Stowe told WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News the details surrounding Gunner Page's death are "utterly tragic."

The TBI confirms the infant died Monday. "It makes me feel terrible when any child dies," Ruth Page said.

According to EMS dispatch logs, a call for help was made last Wednesday to 286 Howard Road. The report summary said, "3MO old not breathing."

...

Family friends who did not want to be identified say Gunner suffered severe head trauma and say doctors told family members the baby had whiplash equivalent to a bad car wreck.

They said Gunner was taken to the Henry County Medical Center before being airlifted to Vanderbilt University Medical Center. "It must be something serious," Peters said.

The Henry County Sheriff's Office said they are not investigating the incident citing a conflict of interest with work relationships. Family friends say Gunner's parents are Hope and Chris Page.

City records show Chris Page has been employed with the Paris Police Department since May of this year.

Former Columbus police officer faces federal theft charge | The Columbus Dispatch

A former Columbus police officer has been charged in federal court with embezzling $89,646 from the federal Department of Veterans Affairs.

Rita Green, 54, of Gahanna, is accused of stealing her mother’s Veterans Affairs benefits after her mother died in December 2009.

On Thursday, a grand jury in U.S. District Court in Columbus indicted Green on a charge of theft of public money, which is punishable by up to 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

Green was investigated by the Department of Veterans Affairs Office of Inspector General and the FBI.

The indictment says her mother received monthly benefits for surviving spouses of veterans. Green had access to the bank account where the benefits were deposited, and she withdrew the money from December 2009 through Feb. 4.

Green’s mother, Hildegard McCurdy, died of pneumonia on Dec. 19, 2009.

In the end, it was Ms. McKenna's severe mental illness, coupled with the tremendous physical exertion she put forth over an extended period of time struggling with deputies that resulted in a cascade of lethal chemical reactions inside of her body.

Ms. McKenna's death was a tragic accident. It is my legal opinion that there is not
probable cause, much less proof beyond a reasonable doubt, that anyone involved in this case committed a crime.

want to proect people from cyclists? be a cop, beat them silly, then threaten them with death if they go to hospital.

Bicyclist Says Cops Beat Him Senseless

California sheriff's officers beat a man senseless after stopping him for riding his bicycle without a headlight, then told him if he sought medical treatment he "would never see daylight," the man claims in court.

Manuel Jose Salazar sued Santa Clara County, its Sheriff's Department, and Officers Carrie Gordon and Alan Reyes on Sept. 4 in Federal Court.

Salazar acknowledges he was riding his bicycle without a forward-facing light on Dec. 8, 2014. He says that when the officers pulled him over he ran toward a Burger King parking lot in San Jose. Officer Gordon intercepted him and held him at gunpoint with her department-issued Glock pistol.

Salazar says he complied with the officers' orders, stopped and showed his hands, and "fully surrendered" by lying face down on the ground with his hands spread.

Reyes then needlessly slammed his face into ground, and numerous officers kneed and kicked him, breaking an elbow and a forearm, loosening teeth and injuring his face, back and neck, Salazar says. He says he was not resisting arrest throughout the beating.

When paramedics arrived, one officer told him "that if he were to accept any medical treatment he would press so many charges against Salazar that he would never see daylight," thereby coercing him into refusing medical care, he says.

But when they took him to jail, "the medical would not book Salazar without proper medical care at the hospital, given the extent of his obvious injuries," the complaint states. So they sent him to a hospital.

The officers then falsified the arrest report to conceal their misconduct and use of excessive force, Salazar says.

"Plaintiff Salazar was unarmed and was actually lying surrendered, face down on the ground at the onset of the excessive force," the complaint states. "Salazar never posed a threat to anyone nor was attempting to thwart the officers' investigation."

He seeks punitive damages for unreasonable search and seizure, excessive force, battery, negligent hiring and training and intentional infliction of emotional distress.

The lawsuit does not mention what charges police filed against him.

Salazar's attorney, Cameron Sehat of Irvine, and the Santa Clara County Sheriff's
Department did not return requests for comment Tuesday.

In the background, we can hear a woman yelling. “He was unarmed! He was not f*cking armed.”

The woman who apparently knew the man can be heard screaming over and over, as police hold her back. About half way through the video the EMT unit on the scene removes the body of the victim, who has been identified by police as 30-year-old Charles S. Hall, 30. The woman naturally begins shrieking and maintaining that the police murdered this man in cold blood.

Maryland State Police spokesman Greg Shipley said that the shooter was Trooper Daryl K. Brackett, a three-year veteran of the force. The man recording the footage apparently knew all about him, when he called him a “rookie.”

The incident occurred just before 9 p.m. Bracket pulled the man over in front of a Walmart and an auto parts store. At one point the officer climbed into the vehicle and apparently mounted the man.

“During the struggle, the trooper fired his assigned duty pistol, striking Hall in the upper torso,” Shipley acknowledged.

...

“They murdered his ass,” one eyewitness said. “Yes they did,” said another, who was recording the aftermath of the police shooting outside of a Walmart in Maryland. “Shot him right in the face.

“It’s crazy,” the man recording can be heard saying. “Got on his lap and shot him. State Trooper, rookie cop.”

from another story:

State police said the trooper got out of his car and approached the man, identified by state police as Charles S. Hall, 30, of North East, in the parking lot. When the trooper attempted to arrest Hall, he resisted and a struggle between the two began, according to police.

Police said while still struggling with the trooper, Hall managed to get back in his car and attempted to drive away. "During the struggle, the trooper fired his assigned duty pistol, striking Hall in the upper torso," Maryland State Police said in a statement released Saturday.
from another story:

Witnesses claim that the officer then climbed into the vehicle so that he was on top of Hall before shooting him in his upper torso. In the video, the witnesses also discuss seeing him being maced before he was shot. Hall was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police Double Standard Alert: Baltimore City Police: Permit? We Don?t Need No Stinkin? Permit! - Liberty Upward

College students, church groups, homeless advocates, and good Samaritans, have all been chased away, detained, arrested, cited, and fined because their distribution of basic sustenance has been in violation of Baltimore’s Code. These encounters often lead to the stacking of additional trumped up charges such as: operating a business without a license, disturbing the peace, blocking a highway or byway, interfering with police business, failing to obey a lawful police order, resisting arrest, etc.

...

On August 17, 2015, Baltimore City Police distributed food and water on Arch Social Highway in Baltimore City. The publicity stunt was performed across the street from a CVS that had been looted and burned down during the recent riots over police brutality. At first consideration this may seem like an innocuous and certainly harmless activity. There are, however, problems.

The Health Code of Baltimore City, which is carried out with the use of force by the Baltimore City Police, defines food as anything consumable or that is meant to be placed into the mouth. It further defines any location at which food is distributed as a food service facility, and any person distributing food is considered to be working at a food service facility. The code also requires that all food service facilities have running water service. Additionally, all individuals wishing to operate a food service facilities must submit an application, pay an application fee, and pass a health inspection. The licenses are non-transferable from person to person or from location to location.

...

This writer sent an email to the Baltimore Police Public Relations Office to inquire as to whether that department was in fact in compliance with the above law:

...

1. Can you confirm that the officers were on duty when this distribution occurred?
2. Can you also confirm that the Baltimore City Police Department applied for and received a food license and permit prior to distributing any food and water, as is required by the City of Baltimore’s health code?
3. If this is the case would you please provide copies of the application, proof of payment of the application fee, and of the license?
4. If a license was not received can you please explain why not?
5. Can you also identify who provided the food and water?
6. Were the food and water paid for via tax money/public funds?

Good evening,

The items were donated by members of our faith based community. Several members of the community joined our officers to distribute these items. I would be happy to let you know the next time we have an event like this so you can join us. We could even setup an interview with you and some of our officers.
Mr. Silbert’s response, or lack thereof, combined with the photographic evidence, makes it abundantly clear that the police officers were in fact on duty when this activity took place and that the police department was not in compliance with the law.

Although most American’s disagree with these laws and would find no fault with the act of civil disobedience in regards to these codes, a major cause for concern arises when the same individuals who enact, carry out, and enforce certain laws, then turn around and blatantly ignore those same laws. In this case the employees have told their employers that they may not feed the hungry or give drink to the thirsty unless certain strict criteria are first met. The employees then turned around and told their employers that they, the employees, are not bound by the same rules and will do as they please.
With one hand the Ministry of Love distributes food and water so as to improve its image and encourage future compliance. With the other hand the Ministry will utilize handcuffs, batons, pepper spray, stun guns, and firearms against those citizens that take it upon themselves to distribute food and water. And it is for our own good, which is why it is called the Ministry of Love.

rabid baboon let loose in fancy hotel in NYC, takes famous tennis star hostage.

James Blake, former tennis star, slammed to ground and handcuffed outside midtown hotel by white NYPD cops who mistook him for ID theft suspect

Retired black tennis star James Blake, in an NYPD double-fault, was slammed to a Manhattan sidewalk and handcuffed by a white cop in a brutal case of mistaken identity.

The 35-year-old Blake, once ranked No. 4 in the world, suffered a cut to his left elbow and bruises to his left leg as five plainclothes cops eventually held him for 15 minutes Wednesday outside the Grand Hyatt Hotel.

“It was definitely scary and definitely crazy,” Blake told the Daily News. “In my mind there’s probably a race factor involved, but no matter what there’s no reason for anybody to do that to anybody.”

Blake, on his way to make a corporate appearance for Time Warner Cable at the U.S. Open, said none of white cops identified themselves, including the officer who charged straight at him and bounced him off the E. 42nd St. concrete around noon.

“Don’t say a word,” snapped the officer, who Blake said was not wearing a badge.

Blake — whose right eye appeared red hours later at the Midtown hotel — was only turned loose when a former cop recognized the man in cuffs and alerted the arresting officers, a police source said.

“That is James Blake, the tennis player,” the NYPD retiree told them.

The first cop involved never apologized to Blake for the physical thumping or the subsequent cuffing, the ex-player recounted.

Blake was only in cuffs for a minute after he was misidentified by a witness during a credit card fraud investigation, police said.

...

He was adamant that the officer never said a word: “No, just rushed me.”

The unidentified officer picked Blake up, threw the 6-foot-1 player down on the sidewalk and commanded him to roll over facedown.

“I’m going to do whatever you say,” Blake recalled telling the cop. “I’m going to cooperate. But do you mind if I ask what this is all about?”

One officer replied: “We’ll tell you. You are in safe hands.”

Blake said, “I didn’t feel very safe.”

“You’d think they could say, ‘Hey, we want to talk to you. We are looking into something. I was just standing there. I wasn’t running. It’s not even close (to be okay). It’s blatantly unnecessary. You would think at some point they would get the memo that this isn’t okay, but it seems that there’s no stopping it.”

Cops Mistake Lou Gehrig?s Disease for Insanity – Kidnap, Strip Search, and Cage Man for Days | The Free Thought Project

In response to a Fourth Amendment lawsuit filed by attorneys for The Rutherford Institute, government officials insist they had “probable cause” to arrest a 37-year-old disabled man, allegedly because of his slurred speech and unsteady gait. Gordon Goines, a resident of Waynesboro, Va., who suffers from a neurological condition similar to multiple sclerosis, was then strip searched by police, handcuffed to a table, diagnosed as having “mental health issues,” and subsequently locked up for five days in a mental health facility against his will and with no access to family and friends.

...

The complaint alleges that on May 15, 2014, Goines was having problems with his cable television reception, including disconnections and extremely loud line noise and signals, and called the cable company for assistance. A technician determined that a neighbor had spliced into Goines’ cable and recommended that Goines contact police about the theft. Goines walked across the street to the Waynesboro Police Dept. and reported the theft to one officer, who called on two other officers to follow Goines home and investigate his complaint. However, the first officer reported that Goines was having “mental health issues.” The officers then proceeded to question Goines about his “mental health issues.” Goines told them he did not have any mental health problems. The officers then asked Goines if he wanted to go talk to someone. Believing they meant about the cable theft, Goines told them he did. The officers then handcuffed him and transported Goines, who pleaded to be taken home, to Augusta County Medical Center. After he arrived, he was examined by an employee of VCSB who concluded that Goines suffered from a psychotic condition, and a petition for Goines’ involuntary detention was filed as a result.

According to the complaint, the VCSB screener was not a licensed medical professional, clinical psychologist, or social worker and so lacked the required training to diagnose mental disorders. The petition was granted and Goines was committed to Crossroads Mental Health Center and held against his will and without access to family and friends until May 20, 2014, when a subsequent hearing found that Goines had no mental illness and should not be confined. Affiliate attorney Jesse Baker, IV, is assisting The Rutherford Institute by representing Goines on appeal.

Driver gets pulled over for speeding in school zone, chews out officer
POSTED 9:26 AM, SEPTEMBER 10, 2015, BY SAMANTHA TATA, UPDATED AT 10:01AM, SEPTEMBER 10, 2015

PALM BEACH COUNTY, Fla. — A driver pulled over for allegedly zooming through a school zone at more than twice the legal speed berated the officer issuing her a ticket, saying it’s no wonder law enforcement are shot in the line of duty, in a disturbing encounter caught on camera.

The woman was allegedly driving 51 mph in a school zone designated for 20 mph, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, which posted the video online Wednesday. She asked the deputy to see his badge and his identification. He showed her his driver’s license, the video shows.

At first, the 62-year-old driver was deferential, pleading for mercy from the deputy while saying she couldn’t have been driving that fast because she’d “just left Target.”
Deputy: “Can you give me a warning please?”
Driver: “No, ma’am, not in a school zone.”
Deputy: “I have so much frozen food in the car.”
Later, she says: “I’m begging you… I promise I won’t do it again. I really wasn’t aware.”

The deputy returns to his car to run the paperwork and when he walks back up to the driver’s window, her attitude has changed completely. She became confrontational and increasingly irritated. The deputy appeared to remain calm even as she berated him.
Deputy: “Ma’am, ma’am…”
Driver: “What?”
Deputy: “You’re being cited for speeding. Let me explain what your options are…”
Driver: “No wonder you people get shot! You’re absolute a**holes.”
Deputy: “OK. Thank you, ma’am. I appreciate that.”
Driver: “Have a nice day.”
He said in addition to the citation, he’ll also submit her for a driver’s license re-examination. When asked why, the deputy said “because you don’t understand why I’m doing my job.”

In addition to the shortened video posted to Facebook, which received 2.4 million views by Thursday morning, the department published an extended version of the dashcam footage.

The encounter begins at 2:05. Watch the video in its entirety, below:

Her comments come amid a particularly tense time for law enforcement nationwide.

Last week, three Las Vegas police officers were shot in as many days, with two them ambushed while they sat in their patrol car.

A week before that, a police officer in Fox Lake, Ill., was shot and killed during an altercation with three men.

And late last month, a uniformed sheriff’s deputy was gunned down “execution style” while he fueled his patrol car in Texas.

WATCH: Officer Asked Speeding Driver Where She Was Headed — After She Told Him, The Cop Grabbed Her Hand And Did The Unexpected

http://freepatriotpost.com/wp-conten...9/sheriff.jpg?

When Deputy Loveless noticed a car speeding down the highway, he did what he was supposed to do – he pulled the car over. Before exiting his vehicle, he said a quick prayer, well aware of how this sort of thing could turn out in light of recent events. Approaching the vehicle, he put on his kindest demeanor and asked the couple inside where they were headed in such a hurry. Their response shocked him, but what he did was more meaningful to them than anything else.

Maxine Morgan admits she “wasn’t really paying attention” as she sped down a Louisiana highway with her husband, Jimmy Morgan. But Bossier Parish deputy Jackie Loveless was paying attention.

Loveless pulled the couple over but, before getting out of his patrol vehicle, he told KSLA-TV that he said a short prayer. Like so many other officers across the country recently, Loveless couldn’t help but think about how a routine traffic stop could become something much worse.

The deputy walked up to Morgan’s window, voicing such friendly phrases as “How are you doing today?” and “Where are you going in such a hurry?” After hearing that the couple was headed to to a memorial service for their daughter Daphne, who died just days before, Loveless did the unexpected.

“I asked her, ‘Ma’am, do you mind if I pray with you?’” Loveless told KSLA-TV. “When the spirit of the Lord comes up to me to pray, I’m obedient to him and pray with that person.”

For the Morgans, that was just what they needed to get them through what was sure to be a difficult day ahead.

“It just touched me so much,” Maxine Morgan said.

Loveless recalled that in the middle of his prayer, the woman grabbed his hand “real tight” as tears flowed down from Morgan’s eyes. The deputy later described them as “tears of greatness and tears of appreciation.”

“I think he was our miracle that day,” Morgan said of the officer.

Loveless’ remarkable action didn’t go unnoticed by his boss, either. Bossier Parish Sheriff Julian Whittington had nothing but positive things to say about his deputy while talking to KTLA-TV.

“Jackie understands we deal with a lot of people, but in a lot of times in the most stressful, critical event they’ve ever had to deal with in their lives,” Whittington said. “He exemplifies, first off, a man, a Christian man.”

A Christian man, to be certain. In fact, Loveless is also the pastor of a church that he started in nearby Bossier City.

As for Morgan, she got off without a ticket, but added that she doesn’t consider the traffic stop to be without consequence.

“We needed something that day and he gave it to us,” Morgan told KSLA-TV. “I think he was our miracle that day.”

Texas cop fires gun into wall in anger after server tells him to stop groping her

A Texas police officer was arrested this week after he allegedly fired his gun into a wall in anger because a server rejected his sexual advances.

According to a press release from the El Paso Police Department, Temple Police Officer Kenneth Lee Sheka, 28, was attending a law enforcement convention on Tuesday and engaged in a conversation with a server in the hospitality area of Chase Suites Hotel.

“Their conversation became inappropriate when SHEKA began making comments of a sexual nature and ultimately touched the female inappropriately as she walked past him,” the statement said. “The female told him not to do that again and continued to walk away, escorted by another male, when SHEKA pulled out a pistol and fired one round into a nearby wall.”

El Paso Police Sgt. Enrique Carrillo told the Temple Daily Telegram that Sheka was quickly subdued after making “crude remarks,” and firing his weapon.

“It was full of officers,” Carrillo recalled. “Our officers were at the event and responded immediately.”

Sheka was arrested by El Paso Police on one count of Deadly Conduct/Discharge of Firearm.

Temple Police Department spokesperson Christopher M. Wilcox pointed out that the officer could also face disciplinary actions.

“We expect our officers to adhere to our code of conduct,” Wilcox explained. “We expect our officers to be professional and courteous, on or off duty, whether they’re in uniform or not.”

A Maryland state trooper has been indicted on charges of forcing a woman to engage in a sex act at gunpoint.

Prince George's County officials announced the indictment of Brian Tucker on Tuesday.

Prosecutors say that on July 6, while off duty, Tucker picked up a woman in Capitol Heights and the two agreed to have sex. Prosecutors say Tucker told the woman during the consensual encounter that he wanted to engage in a different sex act. When she refused, Tucker allegedly put a gun to her head and forced her to engage in the act.

Tucker remains suspended without pay.

Exclusive: LI woman claims cops couldn’t believe she owned BMW — so they threw her in psych ward
POSTED 6:51 PM, SEPTEMBER 10, 2015, BY NICOLE JOHNSON, UPDATED AT 07:25PM, SEPTEMBER 10, 2015

HARLEM — A Long Island woman’s insistence that she owns a BMW landed her in a psych ward at Harlem Hospital.

The doctors believed she was delusional and suffering from bipolar disorder — but she was actually telling the truth, a lawsuit claims.

Kam Brock’s frightening eight-day “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest” ordeal at the mental facility included forced injections of powerful sedatives and demands she down doses of lithium, according to medical records obtained by PIX11 from her attorney.

Brock said it all started at a traffic light in Harlem after she was pulled over by an officer for allegedly driving without her hands on the steering wheel.

Brock said: "I was confused and did not know what was going on, why I was being taken into custody," Brock said. “The officer said, 'why are you driving without your hands on the wheel?' I said I was dancing, I am at a light, he asked me to get out of the car.”

The officer took Brock to the 30th Precinct but after a few hours she was released without any charges. However, she was told to come back the next day to get her car.

The lawsuit states police reacted in disbelief that Brock owned a BMW when she arrived at a substation to pick it up.

Brock said: "I told them I have a BMW they asked me what kind of car it was and from that moment they started looking at me differently like I could not have a BMW."

After a long wait, the bank executive claims she was placed in handcuffs and taken by EMS to Harlem Hospital. Then she was committed to a psych ward.

Brock's attorney Michael Lamonsoff said: "She has no history of mental illness to brand her as mentally ill because she is telling the truth about who she is.”

Brock claims she was given medications like lithium and other powerful sedatives. In the end she was released but stuck with a hospital bill for more than $13,000.

The lawsuit filed by Brock names the city, the hospital and unnamed police officers is active in court.

The NYPD confirmed Brock was taken into custody but said it could not comment further due to pending litigation. The City's Law Department also could not comment for the same reasons.

Or did she not have them?

James Blake’s Arrest Brings Swift Apologies From New York Officials

dont mess with celebrities in NYC.

A New York Police Department officer was stripped of his gun and badge as Mayor Bill de Blasio and Police Commissioner William J. Bratton issued swift apologies on Thursday for the rough arrest of James Blake, the retired tennis star, after he was misidentified as a suspect in a fraudulent credit card ring.

Criticism swirled over whether Mr. Blake had been mistreated because he was biracial. But it was Mr. Bratton’s acknowledgment that excessive force may have been used when an officer threw him to the ground that put a renewed national focus on the everyday arrest tactics long criticized by members of minority groups. The officers failed to report the mistaken arrest, as they were required to do, raising the possibility that it would not have come to light had Mr. Blake not spoken out.

Body cam video raises questions about arrest - KJRH.com

There are questions about the use of force after a Henryetta armed robbery arrest this summer.

Body cam footage shows the heated moments after a chase following the robbery of a Dollar General store. The suspect, Gary Hubbs, is accused of wielding a knife during the robbery. He then led police on a foot chase that veered across a highway.

Body cam video was sent to 2 Works for You by a concerned individual who did not want to be named.

...

"This is the first time we see something a little concerning in the video. Where you hear one officer whispering very low to another officer 'turn it off,'" Garrett said.

Until that point, he said, the arrest seems standard.

Then, an officer not involved in the foot chase approaches the restrained suspect.

"What's concerning to me is when you see someone who is not even involved in the chase scene applying quite a bit of force to the suspect's head and neck once the suspect is fully in custody," Garrett said. "The officer with the body cam turns away from the scene so that it cannot be captured on video."

Henryetta Police Chief Steve Norman said he was on the scene of that arrest and saw nothing inappropriate.

"I believe in this situation he was justified in holding him down," he said.

Garrett disagreed.

"From the video evidence, it appears there was an improper application of force," he said.

Norman added, "That day the heat index was probably 110. These guys doing the chasing were worn down and the other officer was giving them a break."

I've supposed there is probably fake ID to be got online but not had the gumption to do much of a search for some. I'd think that phony scans should be easier to come up with than a whole ID.

gotta love gov't.

you can have this free video of police assaulting you, but you have to promist not to press charges first.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/local...3b9_story.html

D.C. Mayor Muriel E. Bowser said Wednesday that she would allow police officials to withhold some footage captured by body cameras, a move that members of the D.C. Council said backtracked from a proposal she made last month that would have given the public more access to videos.

In August, Bowser (D) said a series of police-involved shootings caught on camera in recent months had led her to favor greater disclosure of video captured by body cameras that thousands of D.C. police officers could soon wear, a decision that encouraged members of the council who favor more transparency.

But legislation that the mayor submitted to the council Wednesday added broad exemptions to the plan she laid out last month, including footage of any of the thousands of assaults that occur annually in the District.

In addition, D.C. police would not allow members of the public to view footage of their own interactions with police if they file a complaint that leads to charges against an officer. That narrowed a provision she proposed last month to let members of the public view footage of themselves after incidents.

...

i need protections like this in my life.

Indiana couple gets $370,000 in settlement over police officer's excessive force

An Indianapolis couple who issued a lawsuit last year, claiming that an Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department unjustifiably fired a gun at them, has reached a settlement with the city and the officer involved for $370,000.

The incident took place on New Year's Day in 2014, when Luke Woodworth, then 19, and Samantha Willis, then 17, got lost on their way to a party and parked near Officer Michael Krebs's house. The suit, according to The Indianapolis Star, states that the two arrived at Krebs's house and knocked on his door after parking on the driveway, but went back to their car upon realizing they were at the wrong house.

According to court documents, Krebs approached the couple as they were parked in his driveway looking up directions, pointed a gun at Woodworth, and shouted at him to "give me your ID," but did not identify himself as a police officer.

“Thinking that he was about to be robbed or shot,” the Indy Star reports the complaint as saying, “Mr. Woodworth immediately put the car into reverse and quickly backed out of the driveway,” but not before Krebs allegedly fired his gun at the car seven times.

The two were not injured, but the suit claims that the shots damaged their car, with two shots entering the car's interior.

Krebs, on the other hand, told the Indy Star that he had identified himself to the couple, and that none of the shots hit the vehicle. Instead, he claims that Woodworth hit him with the car when reversing, causing him to fire his weapon in defense.

Woodworth and Wills went to police about the incident, and Woodworth was subsequently arrested for criminal recklessness, but his case was later dismissed.

Krebs, for his part, no longer works as a police officer.

UPDATE #3:

Not only was tennis star James Blake innocent, so was the other black man NYPD said he looked like

At first, the NYPD claimed it was a case of mistaken identity, and that James Blake looked like a "twin" of the man they intended to arrest. Someone even leaked a photo of the man Blake was supposed to look just like. Now it turns out that "twin" has absolutely nothing to do with the case, either. This admission was tucked deep in a few stories about the case:

The team of officers, looking for suspects in a credit card fraud ring, were relying on a courier who identified Mr. Blake as one of the buyers, the police said. The officers also had an Instagram photo of someone believed to be involved. That person, who Mr. Bratton said looked like Mr. Blake’s “twin brother,” turned out to have no role in the scheme.

all blacks look same.

Police logic: Let's distribute a picture of a man we know is innocent to show the arrest of the other innocent man wasn't about race. Best way to demonstrate we aren't racist is to show how stupid we are.

Bystander With Cellphone Shot By Deputies During Rancho Cordova Standoff « CBS Sacramento

Deputies responded to Negrara Way on a report that Sanchez’s next-door neighbor, Ben Ledford, was firing up to 100 machine gun rounds at a home across the street, killing a dog inside the house.

Sacramento County Sheriff’s Sgt. Jason Ramos says officers arrived to a chaotic scene.
“It took us some time to figure out exactly who had what role in this incident,” he said.

Ramos says Ledford surrendered not long after officers arrived, but they spotted Sanchez’s son, Danny, in the garage next door holding what they say looked like a gun. Turns out it was just his cellphone.

“He went right there over to that corner and stood there with his phone, trying to get some pictures,” Sanchez said.

“He found himself in the midst of things and some of his actions were perceived to be threatening to law-enforcement officers,” Ramos said.

Ramos says officers fired several shots, hitting Danny in teh leg.

“They told him they were sorry that he got shot and everything, that they made a mistake,” Sanchez said.

taking pictures is against the law. well it could be. i dont know. but im going to treat you like scum anyway.

On the afternoon of August 26, while filming MacDill Air Force Base from a public park, a U.S. veteran was illegally detained and bullied by police for legally recording the installation.

The filming of government buildings has been ruled to be protected under the First Amendment but is often cited as a reason for being detained by police who are either unaware or willfully ignorant of this right.

Flexing his rights immediately upon contact, the gentleman, who is in a wheelchair, can be heard asking police if he is “free to go or being detained,” to which Officer Yoeman authoritatively tells him that he is “definitely being detained.”

The man then asks, “What law did I break?” to which the officer has no response, as no law had been broken that he could cite for the detainment. Instead, the officer menacingly countered with questions about why he was taking pictures of the base.

Incredulously, the cop has the nerve to tell the man, “Don’t worry about what law you broke?”

In a display of his ignorance of the law, the officer tells the detained vet that he broke the law by filming the base. The veteran corrects the officer, informing him of legal precedent that affirms his right to film.

Officer Yoeman, obviously agitated that he is being questioned, attempts to use typical bully tactics as he continues his line of aggressive questioning. The entire time he refuses to acknowledge that without reasonable articulable suspicion of a crime afoot there is no legal basis to detain the man.

The man continued to assert his rights stating,

“I don’t consent to illegal searches, detainment or this conversation.”
The encounter then becomes extremely confrontational with both parties exchanging insults.

The veteran never provided an ID, but did provide a Legal Shield card. He was illegally detained until base investigators arrived, at which point he informed them that he did not answer questions.

Showing a level of professional intelligence, decorum and knowledge of the law far exceeding that of Officer Yoeman, the military investigator respected the man’s right to not answer any questions and promptly released him from custody.

This video highlights why many Americans have begun to question the manner in which police operate. If those tasked with upholding the law cannot do their job without demeaning and belittling the very citizens, they claim to “protect and serve,” perhaps they need to find a new career.

Deputy on Paid Leave After Tasing Dispatcher | Cop Block

Sheriff Deputy Mario Calvillo from Sandusky County has been on paid leave since July for “allegedly” tasing a dispatcher for laughing at a joke.

Chief Deputy Bruce Hirt was reported as saying,

The deputy used a Taser to stun a dispatcher after the dispatcher laughed at a joke made by another deputy.

Because Calvillo discharged a weapon inside the dispatch center, it was a serious weapons offense that was thoroughly investigated…

Regardless of Calvillo’s dangerous actions, Hirt went on to say, “No criminal charges will be filed against Calvillo.” Being tased shouldn’t be taken lightly. It can cause sudden and lethal cardiac arrest, especially in those who already suffer from heart conditions. Out of the 815 people killed by police this year, 42 of those deaths have been caused by tasers.

The incident took place in April of 2015, but the dispatcher was reluctant to bring it up to a supervisor and waited until July to report the incident. Apparently there was some cavil in the dispatch center; I’m sure the dispatcher wasn’t necessarily encouraged to report the incident. And much like when anyone else attempts to report police misconduct, the victim is often the one burdened or even assaulted further.

Funny thing, I was about to post that same video in the other thread, and say something like "no doubt Brainey will say that the owner is to blame."

If there existed a button which I could press that would immediately cause the death of every dog breed commonly associated with causing violent physical harm to humans (eg: chihuahuas and pugs would be exempt, rottweilers and pretty much all bulldog breeds would not), I would happily press it.

We have licensing systems and state and federal restrictions concerning gun ownership, and yet no gun in history has ever gotten up and spontaneously torn someone's face off. By comparison, we let literally any moron off the street own and breed vicious dogs.

Braineack 09-13-2015 12:00 PM

the owner was major to blame. he couldn't control his dogs, he couldnt even control one dog.

then he kept letting his one dog "in his control" attack more people.

oh hey, this dog is on a rampage, so let me let out some slack on his leash so he can bite you.

also: dogs bite things. dont hold you hand out for them to bite.
also: if someone is being dragged by dogs, dont grab his hand and try to drag him back...
also: dont own dogs, they are the fucking worst.

edit: apparently it was a chick and she ordered them to attack. we need more dog control.
