If you define an economic parasite as one that sucks the wealth and privilege out of society and you’re looking at the weak and starving who work and thus submit tax returns as the cause of the parisitism sucking the life out of the economy then with a little rational thought you might realize you might be looking in the wrong spot for the parasites. The successful parasites are often the fat and healthy ones.

I dont see the problem according to your graph the richest still pay more than an average American. We were referring to federal income taxes (which your chart shoes the rich pay more of), you know the stuff the Dems said rich people didnt pay enough of, when you start adding in all the other taxes to the average people to say they pay more, you must also add them to the people we are comparing them to, and when you do the rich still pay more or close to it, when you look at it as a percentage, when you look at actual dollars the rich pay WAY more.

I dont see a problem in your chart, expect that maybe half of the nation doesnt pay federal income tax.

If everyone was fiscally responsible and took advantage of all the tax advantages available to them like the rich do, I bet that chart would look way different.

And about middle class people living pay check to pay check that's their own fault.

The only way I can see the US balancing the budget is a combination of increased revenue and spending cuts. I could be wrong on that but I just can't imagine congress making deep cuts to medicare/medicaid/defense/etc. regardless of which party is in control.

okay, two questions this time:

was the debt reduced when we had a surplus?

do you know how much extra revenue we need just to break even on entitlement spending alone? let alone paying for the rest of budgeted spending? let alone paying down the debt?

No but the debt grew at a slower rate than it had in over 20 years.

Yes which is why I said we need a combination of increased revenue and cuts:

Massive voter fraud:

MASSIVE VOTER FRAUD IN ST. LUCIE COUNTY, FL – 141% TURNOUT

Fraud in PA: Obama Got Over 99% of Vote at Polls Where GOP Inspectors were Removed; Turnout Somehow "30%" Above Gov't Numbers

Good News: Obama Won County in Ohio with 108% Voter Registration

I'm not saying it would have changed the result, but this is bullshit.

Right wing web sites only run right wing news. That's why Romeny had no idea he was going to loss by over 100 electoral votes.

blaen99 11-11-2012 03:21 PM

You forgot the 158.85% turnout in St Lucie County, FL!

I mean, it HAS to be real, right? Just check out http://watchdogwire.com/florida/2012...a-141-turnout/

...Except, no.

Two ballots were cast by a single person as a natural part of how those counties created ballots. The 158% turnout was actually only a 79% turnout, because two seperate ballots were cast by a single voter.

Nice try though. I have to admit, it is impressive, especially the (obviously) BS story about illegal immigrants casting votes everywhere from another poster.

Protip: If any of this were actually true, it would be all over the place on mass media instead of right-wing conspiracy sites. Do you have any idea what kind of ratings these stories would get?

It's merely the right wing trying to continue to spread the myth of voter fraud when I already debunked that myth, at length, in another thread. Right wing shills irritate me, because they do not even attempt to do a simple google to verify repeatedly and easily debunked sources. Seriously, you didn't even read your own gorramn sources, let me give you a quote from one related to yours:

UPDATE 2: A reader from Boston wrote and told me that the ballots there were two pages, which would possibly account for the number of cards cast. Also, a poll worker on Reddit confirmed that “cards cast” would indeed line up with the number of pages on the ballot.

So, actual voter turnout in Boston was somewhere closer to 64.5%, not 129%. The number of votes cast backs this up. Best-case scenario would be that whoever prepared the “Unofficial Results” screwed up the turnout columns by counting each ballot page as a voter.

In this case, the 79% Obama vote wouldn’t necessarily be fraudulent. It would just indicate that Boston is full of liberal zombies. Even in the case of a simple clerical error, however, the confidence in the result gets greatly diminished.

The one I quoted was apparently the author of the article comparing census statistics to voter registration statistics. The thing the author failed to research is why voter registration might be higher in Wood County... like say, it being home to a major university that is 20% of the county's voting age population. Can't imagine how that would impact voter registration numbers considering how responsible young people are with voting. ;)

Dear Mr. Blain
Not everything that happens ends up in the news. This incedent did occur in Arcata Ca. Arcata is in competition with SantaCruz Ca to see who can be the most liberal. We have a large university, Humboldt State University and they allow out of state students(all very liberal) to register and vote on all local and state issues.

I was so mad about the illegal voting i couldn't take any action i was very livid. Plus the alphabet media only reports liboral lies that you eat up.

This country is getting what it deserves Obama. Just so you know i don't like Romney either, although i did vote for him. I like Allen Key's. I don't like Bush either.

Please understand I do not dislike you, I just respectfully disagree with you . Life is to short to stay mad.

I find that very interesting, considering I've heard this exact same story almost verbatim on at least 6 other sites I post on. Even down to the same places cited. You have almost the same story even appearing in the comments on fivethirtyeight.com FFS.

Travelling over the weekend, so not keeping up with this thread.

It looks like the confusion over the commonly misunderstood topic of effective Federal income tax rates has been clarified. Also keep in mind that Romney is effectively retired from a successful career in finance and business and that the amount of money he donates to charitable causes [insert Mr. Bundy's commentary that the Mormon church is not a charity] greatly reduces his effective Federal income tax rate.

In other words, each year he gets to decide whether to send more of his money to private charities as donations or to the government as taxes. That is a zero sum game.

I would agree that looking at total taxes paid is also an important measure. It's just important to make sure you are making a reasonable comparison.

A reasonable comparison should be between one of the following:
  • Effective Federal income tax rate (i.e. taxes paid after all deductions and exemptions taken, as a percentage of gross income)
  • Marginal Federal income tax rate (i.e. your top tax bracket)
  • Total effective taxes paid (i.e. Federal income taxes plus payroll taxes plus state and local taxes, as a percentage of your gross income)

Comparing effective vs marginal or total effective vs effective Federal income tax rates without making and understanding the differences is at best a misunderstanding and at worst an intentional deception.

Cool story Bob. That's not data at all.

I opened one of those images in notepad and can confirm it is indeed data.

It doesn't really mean anything, but it is data.
