Yes, it annoys the hell out of me, too. But the reality is that language is defined by its usage.
Also, if you dig deep enough into the link which I provided above, you will come across an amusing picture of a cat.
Are kids commonly using the word "democracy" to mean "representative democracy"?
During a lull at a White House dinner, Melania Trump leaned over to chat with Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo.
"I bought Donald a parrot for his birthday. That bird is so smart, Donald has already taught him to say over two hundred words!"
“Very impressive," said Pompeo, "but, you do realize he just speaks the words. He doesn't really understand what they all mean.
"Oh, I know", replied Melania, “but neither does the parrot."

You tried to play "gotcha" and lost, that's why you changed to a different argument. It's OK, it happens to the best of us.
Can we move past it now?

You have to get down to the third definition to get your version, so there you go.

A Washington, D.C. lawmaker apologized on Sunday after he posted a video promoting a conspiracy theory that the weather is controlled by Jewish financiers
...
"I work hard every day to combat racism and prejudices of all kinds. I want to apologize to the Jewish Community and anyone I have offended," Councilman Trayon White Sr. (D) said in a statement to The Washington Post.
"The Jewish community have been allies with me in my journey to help people. I did not intend to be anti-Semitic, and I see I should not have said that after learning from my colleagues," he continued.

Epitome of government: 6 people die in pedestrian bridge collapse.
success should be measured by success, not perspective:
comment of the year:
The bridge, which was still under construction, had partially opened just this past weekend. It had been designed to withstand a Category 5 hurricane, but clearly something went wrong this afternoon, sending the 2-tiered walkway pancaking onto the crowded road beneath. One report, confirmed by a witness, says a crane was performing a stress test on the bridge when a cable snapped.
The $14.2 million, 40-foot wife, 174-foot long, 950-ton bridge was funded by the U.S. Department of Transportation. It was constructed along the side of the road while support towers and lowered into place Saturday morning.

For the first time, a self-driving vehicle in autonomous mode has killed a person. ABC 15, an Arizona news station, has reported that a pedestrian was fatally injured overnight by a self-driving Uber car in Tempe.

What will be really interesting is if they release all the super-cool recognition video... when did the cameras pick up motion, when did they ID it a person, when did it sense CBDR and apply brakes...??? Despite the fact that his lady died, I'd be really interested to know what the state-of-the-art is in self-driving cars and how close she came to not getting hit.
You know for certain that car has 360* hi-res cameras operating in multiple spectrums... gonna be interesting when they publically release the recording and find no fault with the car or driver. But for ***** sake, even Fox News is running the headline of "KILLING MACHINE". Wanna take bets that the lady walking was walking with her head down while texting, and just walked out directly in front of the car at close range.
