Part of the reason repairs cost so much now though is that they are using more glue and composites to build the chassis instead of the older sleds that were all aluminum, steel and rivets.

People have done it and run the car, but AFAIK nobody has datalogged the fuel pressure.

The answer is "depends." (mostly on the pump you're using.) The feed line has been shown to support well... a LOT of power and the evap line is only 1/16" smaller. (Granted it's pressurized, and the goal with return is to have as little pressure as possible) Yoooooj pump? Wouldn't try it. Stock or one of the "next size up?" Maybe.
I use it with no detectable ill effects. But i have a stock pump and as Ian mentioned, i haven't datalogged fuel pressure, nor will i.
