Would you be able to tweak your manifold layout to be compatible with a specific downpipe that's readily available on the market? I'm assuming that a custom downpipe will need to be fabbed but was just curious. At least I already have the exhaust We'll talk more this Saturday.

To fit/replace the BEGI manifold? I never looked at one in person, I will when Paul's or Jason's arrives eventually. But from pics, the BEGI and FM manifolds look very tight and compact. If this is the case it would be hard to get a tubular manifold that compact and still have it flow well, and not as well as a properly designed smooth cast manifold that I'm sure the BEGI piece is.

Yes, the Begi manifold. I'm just thinking out loud. It would be your same design but with shorter primaries but I guess I'm reaching on this one.

Oops, I think I'm thread jacking. I'll go away now.

I would think it would be nearly impossible to make a tubular manifold to retrofit for a begi/fm

Right. You may be able to do a tight log style but that wouldn't flow as well as the BEGi you're trying to replace.

Yes, definitely reaching on this one. Just looked under the hood and compared it to the photos on your website. Not going to happen. That manifold sure is pretty though

Hey guys I have 2 choices - either get a local guy to hack up my new BEGI downpipe to mate to the new turbo location, or send the ETD mani to BEGI and have them build me a new custom one. (The latter is probably less hassle). Either way is gonna cost me a good chunk.

What do you guys think? Cost is maybe slightly more getting BEGI to do it, considering I will have to sell my BEGI downpipe at a loss (slightly used).

And no, I have zero welding skills so I can't fab one up myself. And I have no buddies with skillz either after y8s moved away.

maybe you can work out a deal if you give them your old DP back...otherwise a competent shop would be able to make it work...maybe cut 7" off it and redo it form the turbo.

I was hoping to get my car running today, but I got a rude surprise.

<see pic>

Looks like when BEGI placed my ETD mani in their jig to build the downpipe, they installed the ETD mani upside down.

Now if I send it back to BEGI, I'll have to uninstall the manifold again.

I know Bell has a great reputation for the most part, especially here. But are al of these flukes we are seeing lately a new trend or are they just so concentrated on getting their "kits" made that they are screwing up the simple custom things? I relize they probably sell 20X what we see on here if not more to mainly happy customers, but you've got to think that as many problem pieces we see there are a lot more of those out there as well.
