I recently picked up my third miata for 1k! Its a 90 with 95k and its pretty clean. It has been sitting for about 5 years and needs a mini resto. Anyways I need to pick out a turbo option for it....

DIY - I have a boost gauge, mbc, ic, and 06 wrx turbo.....build it. I was thinking about a JGS mani and ordering an ebay down pipe and chopping and welding. MS for tuning.

Begi - S ... stock form with fpr, then go MS in a couple of months and sell off the fpr.

Begi - S .....bigger turbo? What would I need to support it?

What would you guys do?

MS is scary but I like all the features.

I would get the MS up and running first. This is only logical because you are already planning on doing it, so why not skip the middle step. An unused fpr sells for quite a bit more than a used one. I'd get the MS running and then talk to Corky and see what he will sell the S kit for without FPR. They will definitely sell you the stuff without the FPR. If he will discount $150 or more, then do that. Otherwise take the FPR also and then sell it on ebay. There are a ton of other guys out there that want them besides Miata guys.

BEGi-S kit would be a good start.

sound like you aren't scared of some fab work. Maybe get it without any fueling, upgrade to the 2560. Run MS, and eventually fab up some intercooler pipes, drop in some injectors and raise the boost.

Thats what I was thinking, but they have two turbo upgrades available. Why would you not go with the biggest one? Would the lag be terrible on a stock block due to the amount of boost/power you would be capped at?

BEGI-S with a Chinese T3/T4 and Megasquirt, injectors and convert to E85.

Alternate Plan for those who want a Ball Bearing Turbo and gasoline:

BEGI-S with a GT2876R and Megasquirt w/ Ebay intercooler kit.
