I've been fortunate enough to find that as a complimentary service at a friend's shop. I do have a tire changer now. But it's old school- ya know, like fighting a transformer weilding solid steel nunchucks. It just wants to hurt me. I'll get me own when I get another race car for sure.

My mig welds 1/4" in single pass with 120v
It's a Lincoln 3200hd. Great little welder for the $$

That is a good welder for the dough- tho almost double what mine cost and 30 more amps. I had a birthday budget to work within- and it's served me well for the last five years. No doubt I'd rather have yours. There's actually one on ebay for $300 right now- that's a deal.

You mentioned manifolds?

Just curious how you get it to penerate into the 1/2" flange?
alot of grinding/preheat and double passes?

Where did he say 1/2"?

All you can do really is bevel, preheat, and multi pass.

Uh, he didn't say 1/2". But I'm sure Jefe is just curious how he's making manifolds if/when it comes time to weld the flanges on.

Right. That's why I was asking.

Although he must have said it somewhere (then again, who knows, maybe he's using 1/4")

1/2" using 120v = take it somewhere. If not, then bevel, preheat, and multiple passes is the extent of my limited knowledge. I'd love to hear how he did it as well.

OK then, how about 3/8"?

I couldn't imagine 1/4" flange not heat warping into oblivion...

Yep..Just curious how others do it???

I'm just curious to hear how others do stuff.
