Homemade Engine Mounts.
So... Whos broken what engine mounts, and what did you replace them with?
I just pulled my mounts today despite knowing they were at least worse for wear for a few months to realise that one tore in two. So basically it wasnt securing that side of the engine to the chassis.
The mounts for those who dont know are basically a sandwich plate, with two steel plates sandwiching a piece of rubber, both plates have a single stud , one stud secures to engine the other to the subframe, and the only thing holding it together is the rubber is glued to the steel plates.
I tore straight through the rubber.
I replaced the two studs with a long high tensile bolt so that in the event of rubber mount failure it would still secure the engine to the subframe, and used 3 thicknesses of Conveyor belt bonded together then to the plates to form a new mount.
Who else has done similar or has advice?

Can you buy replaceable bushes for the goodwin ones?
I have mounts on my ae86 very similar but homemade, using polyurethane suspension bushes and a piece of appropriately sized pipe.
