Default Chinacharger + Garrett??

So... I have 2 turbos sitting here. One is huge *** chinacharger T3:

Compressor Specs :
- 2.150 Inducer
- 2.207" or 56.06mm inducer
- 2.567" or 65.20mm Major
- Compressor .50 A/R
- Compressor 57 Trim
- M24 / T4 Compressor Housing
Turbine Specs :
- T3 Type Turbine
- 2" Exducer
- 2.756" or 70.00mm Major
- 2.131" or 54.14mm Minor
- .64 A/R or something like that

I know that this turbo is going to be extremely laggy but should produce some good numbers @ 10-12psi

Other turbo I have is a T3 from Volvo which is .48 A/R

Is there any way to combine the 2 to make one good flowing turbo with fairly good spool or should I just go play some soccer with that chinacharger?

Id throw that chinacharger in and see what happens. worst case scenario you take it off and play soccer AFTER it ***** itself.

Or use the Volvo .48 A/R turbine with the Chinacharger compressor....

I wouldn't suggest playing soccer with the chinacharger. That would hurt its resale value. Chinacharger FTW.

Just put something together. I kept changing everything. Finnally I got tired of swapping and spending cash, I just put it together and love it.

Go out side now, and pull off the manifold, tighten up the oil feed, manifold, and turbo. etc. And be done with it.
And you can worry about swapping for more power after you finish. LOL

well, im not going to install anything until i get all my other **** taken care of. today im doing 1.8L brake conversion. next friday im doing 1.8L rear end, kaaz diff, "new" tranny, new clutch, and engine mounts. and next saturday im considering megasquirt install if scott sends it by that time.

i have plenty of time. teach me how to put the 2 together. do i just unbolt exhaust housing from garrett and slap it onto chinacharger? do i need to bore anything out to make it work? what exactly does it involve? i dont want to take both turbos apart only to have 2 unrepairable turbos in the end.

the turbine is huge on the chinacharger.... a Turbonetics Stage III wheel is 2.39"/2.56"

bolt the cold side of the chinacharger on the hotside of the Vovlo T3.

Does the Volvo turbine housing have the wierd flange on it? I know some of them are a bit different.

it does...it will probably require some machining. but on a 1.6L I'd rather have the .48 a/r and the standard stage I turbine wheel. Especially since the 57 trim T4 wheel isn't going to spool very fast.

Measure the shaft that ties the turbine and compressor wheels together. If the shafts are not the same size, you can't swap them; However you could probably source the correct turbine wheel from one of the major suppliers.
Additionally you will need to measure the contact/mounting points for the turbine housing to center housing. Even if they are interchangable be careful that there is not an offset difference when the smaller turbine wheel and housing are installed. There is often a small amount of lateral play in any turbo, you don't want the wheel to touch the housing at 100,000+ rpm.
If they work you should get a good balance of spool and top end power potential. Let us know how it works out.

A typical T3/T4 50 trim will produce about 49in lbs of air: enough for about 500hp.
GT25/28 is good to around 300-325.
You should be somewhere between them.
