My TD05 NB project
Thanks Matt. Once the right manifold gets here I'm going to position everything and see where they line up. hopefully the flex pipe on the downpipe is forgiving enough. BTW, thanks for the pics.
My experience with that dp is that the flex section is about a foot too far back. Hopefully the 12yo that welded yours up did a better job. It caused the dp to contact the tranny tunnel in a bad way and I ended up having to brace it to keep it from vibrating.
I got my manifold on Monday, welded the TD05 flange to it today, and did some test fitting. Everything looks pretty good so the next step is to mount everything, measure where I need to cut my downpipe, and measure for my return line.

I have also been working on some exterior goodies...

Flange swap looks clean. You'll definitely need to surface the head-side flange on that manifold, too. Mine from OBX was really wavy, as was the flange on the dp. they would have never sealed had I left them as delivered. You probably already did this but just tossing it out there in case.
Where did you find that manifold kit on the first page? I've looked around online and have yet to find it.

No I have not actually. I noticed the downpipe but I'll take a better look at the manifold tomorrow. We have a mill at my job so hopefully I can bribe someone into doing it for me. Thanks for the advice.
Did you have any clearance issues with the wastegate and hood on your car? It seems like mine sits up pretty high but then again I won't know for sure until I mount everything.

I flattened mine out on a belt sander...worked great. And no clearance issue with the WG. Everything is below the level of the valve cover, but I noticed that you have a bit of a riser under the turbo flange whereas my manifold does not.
Have you test fitted the downpipe/manifold in the car? Those downpipes are notorious for trying to face rape the transmission and the underside of the car.
EDIT: Just noticed that you're turbo sits pretty high, even compared to the manifold that that turbo setup was originally designed for. You might run into some problems, though they are minor. You shouldn't have a problem making some small "adjustments"

Thanks for the info. The turbo actually sits lower than the turbo it was designed for. But we will see when I test fit everything.
I made my custom 40" feed line today and i found a 1/8'' to 4an fitting to go from my sandwich plate to the line. I also ordered the restrictor fitting in 4an. The only hose I had here in the shop was 3000 psi hose lol. At least I don't have to worry about blowing it.

Be careful when u're bending it to put it in the dash, if u dont have a 3rd gauge the thin spots at the top and bottom of the 3rd gauge will bend before the brackets on the side will.
^ cool thank you.
I got the drain fitting tapped installed and capped today along with the sandwich plate/feed line combo. Next weekend I get to start the install.

Ignore the nasty looking pressure sensor. It will be taken care of.
