I've looked into turbo'ing my old 1.8 but that didn't happen for various reasons. I've now got a 1.6 NA, it's currently on ITBs with an aftermarket ECU and it's great other than lacking in any form of punch...

I've got a head with some uprated camshafts going onto it's current bottom end in hope of gaining some more power, I've got SUBs and verniers of course but with these cam specs I'm well aware that I'm going to need a low back pressure turbo setup. Cam specs are:
The specs of the cams are:
- intake: 277°@0.1mm/243°@1.0mm/12.01mm/3.19mm@106°/vc 0.250mm
- exhaust: 269°@0.1mm/235°@1.0mm/11.51mm/2.67mm@-106°/vc 0.250mm

So...

I'm planning on keeping the stock bottom end initially, but will build a forged bottom probably for next year - what turbo would people advise based on this?

 

the smallest turbo to achieve your power goals....which you didn't state

I found the following site useful for comparing the suitability of different turbos.
In my experience the td04-13t is a good match for 1.6 cars.

I'd advise a 1.8 swap before you go and do something stupid, like spend money on 1.6 turbo parts.
