Just bought this: Innovate MTX-L Digital Wideband WBO2 Air Fuel Ratio AFR Gauge

I'll have this puppy up and running in no time.

In the meantime should I take the car to my tuning shop and let them get it further dialed in? I hate to keep running lean.

Once the o2 sensor is installed and talking to your mega squirt (provided it is calibrated correctly ) you shouldn't need a shop to tune it.

Load a conservative timing map, a safe AFR targets map, and then just autotune.

At this point you'll be wasting money.

You don't even know what injectors you have, so you have no idea what to even set required fuel at.

Figure out what you have first.

My current AFR readings on my data log are 14-16 at idle and dip down to 13-14 when accelerating, then 10-12 when in boost. How accurate are these readings? Perhaps a PO already installed a wideband and I did not realize? Or are these just inaccurate readings for my narrowband?

You guys have been awesome so far by the way. Thanks for helping me not blow up my car.

I wouldn't trust anything the PO installed.

I wouldn't be shocked if the original injectors or some barely bigger than OEM ones are in there.

Ok. I have had the flu so the car got put off for a few days. Just pulled the injectors and they have 550 etched in on the back, along with a bunch of other numbers which I wrote down.. not sure if they are important or not. Gonna go out on a limb here and say they're 550cc.

My engine is the 1800cc, and my injectors are 550cc. I am running 92-93 octance. I am uncertain of what I should enter in for Req_fuel in tunerstudio.. I am going to see if I can find the formula.

Ok. Found the calculator on megasquirt manual, which is here if anyone is every interested: How MegaSquirt(R) EFI Controllers Work

I entered in 109.8 cubic inches (1800cc) and 52.4 lbs/hour which according to some calculator on some website should be 550cc/min. Also have it set as 1 squirt per engine cycle. This gave me a value of 5.5, but that's at an AFR of 14.7. I played around with my target AFR, entered 12.5, and got 6.7. Isn't that LESS fuel? I am confused.

After some more digging I have discovered that improper fueling has caused several others to have my shuttling under load issue. Hopefully this will have me going for now.. Once my AEM wideband comes in, I will be ready to roll!

Pretty sure you already have a wideband installed if you see that you're actuall10:1 in boost. And didnt you already buy an innovate mtxl why are you now waiting for an AEM wideband?

I am just entering in the value based on my injector size, engine displacement, and desired AFR. This is the Req_fuel value that Megasquirt gave me. What I was confused about was what AFR I should be entering in to my formula.

I meant to say innovate. not AEM. The AFR I was getting was just a number that TunerStudio was spitting out. I don't know if that's just what it's going off of based on a regular O2 sensor or what. There appears to be a bung welded on to the downpipe approx. 5'' downstream of the turbine. I am uncertain of how to determine if this is a wideband or just a regular O2 sensor.

the req-fuel value is a multipler for your entire fuel map.

please, **** with it.

see what happens.

or leave it alone because it was already tuned for the setup you know **** about.

Well, I did. Car runs great at 10.5. The Value that the megasquirt gave me was not even enough fuel to keep the car running. I kept slowly increasing the value. Before it was at 13.2. I am trying to get the car running properly so that I can drive it without damaging it for now, as I need to get to school and work.

As far as being tuned on that setup, it wasn't. It was running horribly with engine stuttering above 3,000 RPM. It was practically undriveable.

I am unsure of your sarcasm, but ******* with it did actually solve my problem.

You should probably actually put in the correct value for required fuel and **** with the rest of the tune. You know, so its right.

you all did was reduce the amount of total fuel, throughout, by 2.7%

What AFR should I be entering in to my equation? 12:1? What would be safest at the moment? I am willing to try anything, just having a hard time. I am unsure of who is giving me sound advice and who is not.

Here's my plan:
Load a base map
Enter in my req_fuel value (1800cc, 4 cylinder, 1 squirt per cycle, 52.4 lbs/hour (550cc) = 5.5
Let Autotune in TunerStudio do the rest.

For my now the car is running, I will try this later unless anyone has any better ideas. It is hard to learn all of this on the fly, thanks for the help so far.

You wouldn't get those readings without a wideband. Find out what you have before you buy more stuff you probably don't need.

This may involve actually getting under the car and looking for o2 sensors and following wiring from there until you find a controller.

So did I do the right thing? Not really sure where to go from here, other than praying that my lack of knowledge doesn't blow my car up.
