These new Garrett GTX turbos seem to show a real performance gain if you "go down one size" because they have similar flow characteristics to the old GT models down low, but "open up" in the mid range and above. At least, that what it looks like compared to the GT2860rs and GTX2863.

I have been driving a customer's 2871R-powered MSM all week and it is definitely not as responsive as an EFR6258 in the 2500-3500 range.

The idea is that the wheel is smaller than the 71mm but out performs it in spool and max output.
the 2863 (63mm), is a 43 lb/min wheel and 78% efficient
