Paint intercooler black for stealth turbo, then car just looks like plastic-covered ricer car that can't back up its looks. Leave intercooler visible and it looks like owner is more than just a poseur and car might actually have some substance. But I'm a function over form guy.

Biggest problem I have with black paint on an fmic is that over time it chips and looks like doo doo. Gotta respray it every so often which is a pita for lazy people

Too many coats of paint will create a thermal barrier which will not allow the intercooler to work properly anyways

One primer, one coat. One coat of black primer is easiest.

$67 shipped is tough to beat. For that price it can be considered a wear item and a radiator defense mechanism.
Edit: this was the solution I used.

don't be a moron. This is probably the dumbest thing I've read today and I've had to read over some pretty retarded jibberish already.

I mean it's almost too stupid to comment on. But I do need to point out the retardation of it.

Duh, you just use meth injection with your painted intercooler to make up for the paint and get those cool intake temps.

Was referring to respraying the inter cooler over and over and over again. Granted any oil film on the inside of the inter cooler would have a worse effect then tons of spray paint. Just hinting if you spray it spray it good so it sticks scuff it up first with brillo pad.

I bought a precision knock-off from my friend. I paid 40 dollars for it and just flipped it to the clean side.

This doesn't have anything to do with this thread, but I feel like sharing.

Gosh, you guys didn't know that all heat transfer occurs on the leading edge and not across the fins?

Good sure. Necessary with H20/meth? Hardly.
