best way i was able to find rattles and noises was getting some length of hose, preferably 3/4" to 1" ID (your gray recirc. hose). hold it to your ear and use it to pinpoint sounds....hopefully this is something that you can recreate by revving the engine, enough so you can sorta find it.

everytime I've had an exhaust leak, it sounds like really loud lifters...tick tick tick tick. your noise sounds like high pitched rattling/buzzes, like you have a few bees in a can and really pissed them the **** off.

Also, when i checked the shaft for play i noticed a small amount of oil on the lip of the turbo. Normal?

yeah, just a bit of it coming from the breather line....if turbo seals were compromised you'd know.
