Default update: More in-progress projects PICS

So after getting my new hardware from ARTech everything looked perfect but scared and fearing the worst for my new manifold i decided to fab up a heavy-duty brace. Pics show all. All the hardware for the brace was bought at my local hardware store for less then $12 bucks.
welded steel tabs where the new support will bolt on to.

These babys showed up the other day also

Aren't you worried that the expansion of the mani and the lack of expansion of the brace might cause some stress? That mani already looks pretty beefy.

Those spherical rod ends should allow some rotation but you're right, some flex would help.

Cast iron is what your thinking when it comes expansion which is why cast manifolds NEED relief cuts. This Manifold will have expansion no doubt, but not nearly as much as cast. The brace is made to support the weight of everything so it will prevent cracks but im hoping that its not going to induce remature cracking

Are you planning to have the rod in tension or compression? I'd actually have to think about this a bit and maybe run a simple FEA to see how to best support that. Would be pretty simple if I had the geometry. (Hint, if you or somebody mock up some CAD geometry and send it to me I can test it, I do FEA daily at work)

the bar is held in with compression from being bolted down. I couldnt tension it because the threaded rod started stripping and got stuck tight. I got it extended far enough to where i could slide the bolts through each hole and bolt it down.

Looks great, but if anything 'too' heavy duty.
Look on any serious WRC/race turbo car and you'll notice the braces are usually pretty weedy - typically 6 or 8mm bar with M8 rose joints even on heavy manifold/turbo combos. The brace can bend a little that way i guess.
