Yeah I think it will work, just wanted to be sure you had not seen something I overlooked. Basically I had this in mind when I decided to build this setup...

Yeah I remember that thread. Even though I have a spare hood, still can't bring myself taking a saw to it.. Nor could I decide if I wanted the carbontrix or Mini piece.

If my fm hood ends up not working at extraction I'm going to fill the vents in the middle, and put a 22b-wrc extractor in the front of the hood...if I can find one.

molded into the fiberglass of course.

Nice work. I bet sealing off the IC exit so it seals with the hood, and placing an extractor there will increase efficiency by one thousand percent.

Oh man, it took awhile. I would say I have 40-60 casual hours into just the v-mount setup. If I did it again it would go a lot faster since a lot of the time was spent on experimentation and design development. Plus I am including some of the time for the boxing in part.

Yeah I suppose it is possible that the flow through the radiator could create a venturi. But I think that will be 'overridden' by the pressure differential. If my IATs suffer, then I'll start measuring pressure differentials across the IC and radiator.

OK initial report. Did some driving this evening and the flow through the intercooler is working based on the AITs. It cools to the outside air temp when not under boost. Coolant temps are great. I ran it as hard as I could on a twisty road and it did not get above 210F. It was about 95F outside.
One thing it does do, is the flow through the radiator is good enough, when the car is sitting still, that it is pulling air 'backwards' through the intercooler and heating it up (drawing hot hood air through the IC). I had always wondered about this with v-mount setups in general. The fix is easy though, just need some fans on the intercooler
Either that or just do not worry about it. It is only a 'problem' when sitting still. Who knows, with the extractor hood it may be a non-issue since it may tend to pull cool air back through the extractor.
The Tial Q BOV is great. It opens fast and hard, sounds nice.

^^ Yeah I thought about that one too. Not sure about how to fabricate them though so they will be light enough to open up properly, but not get trashed by the flow (like a flag in the wind). Anyone got any ideas?
Depending on what happens with the extractor hood, since it has three rows of vents, I could also box off the front two so they are dedicated for the intercooler.

Update:
So I have been daily driving it for a couple of weeks now and it is working well. Coolant temps are rock steady, not even a hint of overheating, even in 100+ heat in boost. The AITs are great as long as the car is moving. If I sit at a light for awhile they start going up due to the previously mentioned radiator fan induced backflow through the IC. But again that is an easy fix. I just need to mount some cheap 7" fans to the underside of the IC and wire them in parallel with the radiator fans. Problem solved.
In short, so far it is looking very good. Track time coming up in about a month; that will be the real test.
