I've always beleived that water injection is a bandaid solution. Water or nitrous or methanol misting an intercooler is the way I'm headed.

Water and water/alcohol injection is extremely effective, not a band-aid, an additional component in the quest for more power.
Nitrous as a misting agent for the intercooler is a real waste of the product.

It's really hard to consider anything a band-aid if it's dependable and repeatable. I think a lot of people don't like the idea of having to use a consumable- something that needs to be replenished. IMO - whatever works for "you", that's what makes all these DIY setups unique.

Besides, if the cooling system isn't up to snuff. What is cooling the intake charge really going to accomplish.

I had the same beliefs until I gave it a shot. Tuning boosted 4 cyl car that makes 400 whp on pump gas while the intake temps stay at ambient while running 20+ psi makes you a believer real quickly. Being able to run 30 degrees advance at that boost makes it even more impressive. I will forevver be my first mod on any boosted car I will own.

Also to the original poster....what turbo VW did you have?
