Who is NOT running a BOV?

[QUOTE=ScottFW;575333]Exactly. The rally guys do without BOVs because they want to eliminate lag as much as possible for better throttle modulation, and retaining pressure in the intake plumbing helps with that. QUOTE]
Srt of shooting myself down, but a BOV actually improves throttle response. Wihtout it you have a situation with rapid decleration of the compressor wheel when the throttle shuts, which requires the turbo to spin back up more than if a BOv was present. One of those weird counter-intuitive things.

Not agreeing with the argument in any way of supporting NOT running a BOV, but I do know this, Chrysler Conquest TSi/Mitsubishi Starion's did not run BOVs. Yet, this was a time when engine design overall doesn't seem to be very well thought out with those vehicles, anybody who has seen the fueling system knows what I'm talking about.

We don't have one on our 376rwhp monster

Actually the Buick Grand National 3.8i turbo '84-87 didn't come with a BOV... and their turbos lasted well beyond 100K miles. They were automatic transmissions so maybe they were a bit softer on them....
Get a BOV from an Audi, Mitsu Evo, Subaru WRX or other factory turbo'd car and install one for next to nothing. They are there for a reason.

Funny this subject would come up because i was talking to one of the guys from precision turbo and they told me if i have a turbo with an antisurge cover and a manual gear box a bov is good for nothing. however he said with an auto you gotta have one did t really get a chance to ask why autos needed em and manual dont but he said with an antisurge cover theres absolutely no need for a bov.

What about that 80yar old boy's mouth?
Did they also tell you about several designs they're copying over from TiAL? I don't know WTF they are thinking but the anti-surge housing is another design they stole from TiAL.
