Pretty much the same thing that you did but they called it the FM3. I was worried about being able to put down over 400whp with that manifold design, but it seems to do the job just fine:)

Those numbers you put down were serious. I'm sure you will enjoy the rotary just as much.

Thanks, the rotary is going good i got to drive it for a day before i had to pull the motor but just got a new motor yesterday. So i should soon be back on the road.

Okay so most of you guys remember my old car that i traded to the guy that had the rotary miata. Well a few years have passed and the car is also most done with the changes he has made. So im hoping soon i can get her on the dyno and tuned to see what this HTA turbo will make for power.

miatamike203 04-29-2012 01:54 AM

I am also considering once my turbo jeep is finished, im going to sell it and try and get another miata and try to copy my old EVOIII 16G setup. I believe there is still a good amount of power left in the turbo and that on a better setup i could see even more.

Just read this thread front to back. Amazing. In for more E3 16g glory. I made 328/361 with one on my Talon and thought it would be fun to try on the Miata. I'm using the crappy ebay tubular mani with it, but now thinking a cast mani + Mitsu flange might be a cost effective upgrade when it falls apart.

Your best bet is to get this housing http://shopping.kinugawaturbo.com/ki...ernalgate.aspx so you can run it on t25 flange.

Interesting. I've never considered a Garrett flanged turbine housing for a Mitsu turbo as a solution, but I'm not sure an 8cm^2 volute hotside is going to do me any good for making power down low, which is what I'm most interested in. But the v-band outlet makes it pretty tempting even though I'd have to drop more coin on an external gate.

Edit: Wait, how would that work? The side of the housing facing the center section is a bolt on affair, whereas a Mitsu center section connects with a v-band.

The lip of the v band gets pushed into the housing with bolt on clamps.

Thanks for the explanation, but damn, I thought I had figured out how to get out of buying this :p

Have you seen any of their products in person, or used any? Just wondering if they are machined accurately, crack overnight, etc.

miatamike203 04-30-2012 07:12 PM

Me no but could give them a call and question them.

miatauser884 04-30-2012 10:28 PM

Why the e3 over others?

I have run the GT2560R, the EVO3, and a HTA3076R. Out of the three the evo 3 had the nicest powerband and the car was a blast to drive. I also feel if i had fixed a bunch of things and brought the boost up to 25psi i could have seen 375-400whp. Also the evo3 made close to the same wtq over the others. It was fun going down the highway and going 1/4 throttle and watching the boost gauge just hit 10psi and the car going from 60-100mph like nothing. Remember too this turbo is not ball bearing but it came on like a ball bearing turbo did, and with that said forced performance also is able to fit the turbo with ball bearings and a billet wheel. For me its best bang for your money.

miatauser884 05-01-2012 12:02 AM

Gotcha. Its a shame the power doesnt come on a little sooner. I wonder what the bb upgrade would do to the curve i.e. how much to the left it would get shifted.

Should be a good amount plus i had a cracked manifold. Also i was on stock nb head.

miatauser884 05-01-2012 01:45 PM

I gotta say, you are getting me interested in this turbo. Especially since I could buy an exhaust housing to mate up to my current setup. I bet the billet wheel and BB pushes the price to point that goes against my cheap nature. i.e. piecing a 2860rs together for $350 lol

miatamike203 05-01-2012 09:08 PM

you can find EVOIII for cheap then just add the housing.

Faeflora 05-02-2012 01:07 AM

Find me evoIII for chrap and i will buy you housing.

miatamike203 05-02-2012 07:12 PM

I have one That was just rebuilt by Forced Performance for 400 plus shipping.

matthewdesigns 05-02-2012 07:33 PM

Did that rebuild include replacing either of the wheels or housings? If not, was it only a chra refresh?

miatamike203 05-02-2012 10:34 PM

Just rebuilt the CHRA as it was seeping oil.
