I under the easy to start with part. That probably is the most important factors for choosing Honda. I number of people here have some pretty decent fab skills so maybe easy is less important than choosing the best plenum design for the application. My contention is the honda manifold is "less crappy" than the Miata manifold and that we should explore a larger range of options based on true turbo manifold designs.

The amount of work it would take to fab one of the other manifolds to match the miata gets to the point where you'd consider just fabbing your own sheet metal intake manifold with a tapered plenum and raised velocity stacks.

SO I have yet to see ANY pics of anyone using the Edlebrock Victor X Manifold.....

here are some of my current ongoing progress of my HONDA INTAKE BUILD

I got this manifold in a trade ( civic half radiator and a MAC boost solenoid)
I paid $21 for a piece of 3/8"x4"x2' aluminum stock
The welding didnt cost me anything since i have good friends/CO-workers

This was the angle I was going for.

YES Intake flange looks rough but I am not finished....
I still have to port the flange out for the runners. OBVIOUSLY not gonna flow like this......
Hopefully in a few days i can have it done and installed afterwhich I'll post more Pics here or you can follow me on facebook @ https://www.facebook.com/ChobeeBoy

before you port it out, you can check for weld leaks.... since the runners are already sealed at the end LOL.

here are a few updated pics of my progress. i decided to go with the holset HX35 turbo as well fits very nicely

had the car running just fine with the intake however the idle settings need adhusted when i rev it up then let off the throttle the idle compensation setting is too high and it will lope at high idle for a minute or so then settle down and idle right.
not a problem just need to hook up the laptop.

You must not have looked very hard. The first ever honda intake manifold modified to a miata flange was a Victor X. That was about 10 years ago.

If you have seen it please share it with me since obviously my searching skills need to be honed a bit.

I've been waiting to see what Skunk2 comes up with as well. I messaged them about it and they said they were shooting for a end of April or beginning of May 2015 release date.

wouldn't they benfit from less mid range tq gains, and higher rpm hp.

Sure they would, but they could also just run less boost in the mid range too. And the longer runner manifold would be just the same for them, but it would also be useful for N/A cars.

The handful of guys with that much power don't care. They'll build whatever they need from scratch. The vast legion of N/A guys that will actually buy enough manifolds to support R&D + serial production want broad power bands.

Maybe someone can put together a group buy when they're finally released.

Work in progress, 4G63 intake manifold. Flange fitting is close enough to modify and I need not weld a new flange.

Those runners are half the length they need to be.

Mine is slowly coming along. Removing all the extra bosses that I won't be using.
