I have to buy a set of tyres for our new season of Superlap so a slight side step here.....

Do you believe that a set of new 225 x 15 x 45 NT01 on 9" wheels is quicker or slower than new set of Rival S 245 x 15 ?

Cant wait to see how the new car goes to by the way.

Managing the air that passes through the car.

Hood venting:

The louvers pull pressure out of the engine bay to optimize airflow through the coolers and reduce lift. It's rather incredible how well they work - with the radiator just venting into the engine bay like normal the louvers will pull the majority of air that passes through the radiator up and out through the hood. Since this car is about getting that last little bit everywhere, I'm also ducting the radiator's exit up towards the hood vents to maximize front downforce.

Work in progress:

Finished duct:

The ducting directs the radiator exhaust directly up to the larger middle two vents and isolates that flow from other pressure sources I'll be playing with in the nose of the car.

More fab this weekend of various small bits, then drove the car around on the street to do some datalogs. Confirmed, car is loud and moves with urgency.

Back in the shop, mounted up a small wing I've had sitting on the shelf since it was built by Kognition two years back.

Looking good!

Been combing through your threads trying to find detail on the trunk/extended gurney setup you've got going on, with little success. If you get a chance would you mind chucking that in here maybe?

Yeah hard to find old pics thanks to Photobucket nuking images across the web :(

Another angle from this weekend shows it:

I revived the pics in my old 2013 post about making it in my build thread:

You are going to need one hell of a diffuser to match that wing and trunk block setup you have going.

I don't see "twerk it like miley" written on the bottom side of the wing. That means its clearly not big enough.

any idea what the specs of the aerofoil are?

profile/span/camber/other?

been looking a lot at profiles to have made into a core by flying foam to finish myself.

Take a look here

UIUC Airfoil Data Site

You can use XFLR software (XFLR5) to create airfoils and simulate them. Select an appropriate family of airfoils according to your needs, then tweak them until you get your desired results

Sorry, I share a lot about this build considering that I'm building a car to compete with (which usually means you play your cards very close to the chest), but I'm not going to share Kognition's profile design because that's the product of their own hard work and R&D.

If I remember right they based their profile off an f1 wing that they got a hold of. Could be wrong but that's what pops up into my memory

It's just about the most aggressive single-element profile possible without separation at max angle of attack. Lots of similarity in profile to an F1 main plane, because they did indeed acquire a few F1 wings during development. AFAIK they then made a few tweaks based on CFD since obviously an F1 wing is (almost) never a single element.
