The more guys I talk to who have raced there the more I think it will turn out to be a very interesting battle between power and grip. Basically, what Moti said

Need to bring spare wheels/tires 1500 miles and don't want them sitting in the truck bed overnight at hotels so it's time to build the wheel rack for the trailer that I've been planning for at least a year. Nothing overly fancy, quick one-day build. Need to get on to the next thing on the list!
Room for two sets of wheels/tires plus space for the trailer spare.

Spectators | Super Lap Battle USA
I assume there will be a live feed but I don't have any info on that yet. Hopefully we'll find out and be able to post a link closer to the event.

a blue/yellow evo. It’s been bouncing around English Racing for the drivetrain upgrades and my work for the suspension and brakes. Plus he does his own front aero. So a few things have been missed along the way, we didn’t have time to paint his cage or get new tires for this event. I’m very excited to see how he does though.

The seldom seen in-progress pic...
What's this X-wing looking thing?
Ceiling hanger for the splitter!
I've been hanging the splitter from the ceiling of the trailer for a while now, but the rack was originally designed for my old splitter. The new splitter, much larger, didn't fit in it and required some extra bungee cords to keep it in place. A 3,000 mile round trip was more bouncing around than I wanted to trust the bungees with.

Not sure if you have seen this article in Grassroots yet. LFX swap with an AIM MXP using the CAN bus connection. They made it seem like an easy install and everything seems to be working.

I'm wondering if AEM's OBDII adapter can read the E39 ECU. One way to find out..

Yeah AIM can do it. GRM is swapping an LFX into their AER endurance car right now, and their plan was to use a Racepak with OBDII adapter. I let Tom know about my struggles to get that to work. They might have changed their plan on that car since then.

On that note, would it be better to get the OBDII or CAN version?

I'm not sure whether OBDII or CAN would be the better choice. ooja3k might be able to confirm what he used succesfully for the AIM. I'm very likely going with AEM if I switch.

A driveline vibration developed in the second half of the day at Streets. Upon initial inspection I thought the CV on the driveshaft had gone. When I pulled the driveshaft out I was very surprised to find the nut on the output shaft of the transmission had loosened, allowing play in the tail. Re-torqued to spec (42 ft-lbs) with loctite and vigorously staked the nut. Without an opportunity to run the car at speed somewhere to confirm that was the only issue, the CV might also be bad, so the CV gets replaced too (CVJ033 from driveshaftparts.com):

Did you end up using the 12/16 pin harness as well? They mention it is required on the site.

If you look here stock ecus: https://www.aim-sportline.com/en/doc...onnections.htm
And here for aftermarket (including MS1-MS3): https://www.aim-sportline.com/en/doc...onnections.htm
It lists all compatible ECUs with AiM products. 90% of the time the only real usable data from stock ecus is coolant temp, intake temp, and RPM. Sure you can look at thing like o2 voltages, spark advance, etc, but that's nothing you'd display on a race car's dash.

Loading up took longer than usual yesterday. Feels like I'm bringing half the shop this time. Lots of spare materials (aluminum, steel, lexan, dibond), ALL of my hardware, welder with bottles for mild steel and stainless, twice as many spare parts, Greg's tools in addition to my own, scooters for the crew, etc. etc.
On the road at 5AM today. 735 miles straight shot from San Diego through Arizona and New Mexico to El Paso, TX. My girlfriend Bri made meals while we were rolling so we only had to stop for gas. Timed our 3 refuel stops, got it down to 6min 30 seconds. Total elapsed time 14 hours and now we're in El Paso! Tomorrow, *just* 600 miles across Texas to get to Austin.
Lots and lots of this view today:
